New Cdory owners and thank you.

Earlier this week we bought our first boat, a 1993 22 cruiser. We got back from Port Townsend on Monday after a long weekend of play, talked in the car about boats. I think I spent the next 24 hours on line looking around, I had never heard of Cdory, and honestly know very little about boats in general.

I'll say one of the big reasons we just ran out and did it, on an impulse, was because we came across this group. Thanks to all of you for all the good information in all the posts over the years.

So the adventure begins today! We're picking it up this morning, I'm going armed with a couple posts of things to check out, although it might be too late since we already paid for it :)

I'm sure I'll be back with questions and hopefully some pictures of her on the water this weekend.

We might see some of you in Sequim this weekend too, not sure if we'll just drive up or cruise. (It might be a bit much for our first day on the water coming from Seattle)

thanks again for all the great information-

brad

Congratulations.

I think you have saved yourself a lot of time and agony by jumping right in. Many of us found this site and/or the c-dory line and then spent months or years working out the details of the right boat and getting the money together. By cutting to the chase you will have more time on the water and less time on the computer. Congratulations again.

Welcome aboard. I think you will genuinely enjoy your new boat and your new computer forum.

In our case, we serendipitously visited a C-Dory dealer, drawn from an ad in some boating mag. Saw it, ordered a new one and only then did we discover the Brat site. Fortunately it was early enough for us to pore over owner comments, remarks, and mods and we were able to make several key changes to our factory order even before construction began. Now Da Nerd would be hard pressed to get me offa here. :thup

Enjoy your new prize. You're very fortunate to be living near the largest concentration of Brats in the world. They even have their own brewery!

Don

Brad,

Welcome to the family, and congratulations. If you have any build questions or are in need of parts please don't hesitate to contact me directly at the factory, either by phone (360) 393-3283 or my email scott@tritonmarine.us

Take care and have a great first trip.

Scott

Welcome Brad! I have a '94 and I love it. When I repowered in 2008-9 it felt like I bought a brand new boat. There is nothing on the boat that can't be easily replaced/upgraded -- and few things that after 15 or 16 years will need upgrade/replacement. If you have any questions about the older build let us know. I don't think that there is a residual problem that hasn't been solved on this site.

Exciting times ahead! Welcome aboard - you made a great choice for your first boat.

Since you are new at this, I'd recommend taking a US Power Squadron or USCG Aux Safe Boating class... lots of good information to get you started. Running a boat is completely different from driving a car... even though they both use "Rules of the Road."

Tell us how you intend to use the boat and post some photos of "the new family member".

This forum offers is a great source of information - glad to have you here.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Brad,

Congratulations on the new baby! :thup :thup

By all means try to come to Sequim this weekend. Pizza tonight on the dock, Pot-Luck tomorrow night. Call me at 360-460-3894 if you want details. Current wind on the Straits is 3.9 kts!

This year at Friday Harbor, we had a new TomCat come directly from delivery at the dealer to the CBGT. Some sort of record I think!

All the best,

That was Ann and me and we received a very warm welcome.

Welcome to the C-Brats.

Roger, if I'm not mistaken "Bess C" (25' C-Dory), came directly to the Lopez Gathering several years ago, directly from receiving delivery from Les at EQ Marine.

Hi Brad,

Welcome :smiled

I'd like to suggest that you check out the South Sound (hit the CBGT @Sequim though). When I got into boating our family had a place in the San Juans and that's where I cut my teeth. It's a regal area but can be challenging when weather/tides conspire.

Only later did I discover the South Sound. It's more like a massive lake. There are always sheltered areas to explore if things kick up. It's a wonderful low-pressure area to get to know your new boat without distractions.

I like to launch at Swantown but you could run down from Seattle in a morning.
