New E tec 50

My venerable 1988 40hp Evinrude finally died and I was "forced" to upgrade
last summer. I have been wondering how a 50hp E-Tec would do on a 16' C-Dory. "Happy Birthday to me" :wink

Let me tell you she goes like stink. :twisted: and is more economical to run so far than the 40hp even with all of the crab traps and other junk on board. :smileo

I can't say much for those new 6gal gas tanks though :thdown That divider across the middle keeps you from using all of the fuel without picking them up and tilting them. :crook

That's kind of hard to do when they're strapped down. :crook

I'm not really sure what was happening to the old 40hp.

It was a VOR system I wasn't familiar with and it had been modified.The oil pump had been disconnected and you had to premix the oil.

I tried cleaning the carb and everything else I could think of, or find
in the overhaul book. I decided to bite the bullet and take it into a shop, but no one would touch it. It was 3 days before the 4th of July weekend and we were getting ready to head out for 3 months in the Broughton's. Like I said, the E-Tec became an early birthday present. :teeth The 40hp ws used as a trade-in.:sad

1st time I've owned an OB that cost more than the boat did. :smileo
