Hello C-Brats!
Looks like a great group! We (Joyce and Wolfgang) recently moved to Virginia from Michigan. We previously explored the Great Lakes on our 26 ft. SeaRay (which we sold) and now are looking to purchase a C-Dory 25 Cruiser to explore Chesapeake Bay and the rivers. The C-Brats look like a great community with a lot of knowledge.
If anyone has any cruise tips for the Hampton Roads area, our ears are open! And, if anyone knows of any C-Dorys for sale, let us know.

Welcome, and when you come UP the Cbay, we're right where the Potomac hits it on the Virginia side You'll find lots of knowledgeable folks in the Norfolk/Portsmouth area. Right now Art on Sea Angel and Tivo on a 16 (now for sale, looking to "move up") come to mind first. I'm sure they'll chime in!

Hi Joyce and Wolfgang, welcome and hopefully spring and nice boating weather will be with you soon. I have not yet listed our 2006 25 cruiser, it's still a little early up here in NY, however I plan to put it on the market this spring. Welcome to Tidewater and the C-Brat community. In case you did not get my number in my PM to you : 757-486-5797.

We had an 18' SeaRay bowrider before we moved up to the CD25. I looked at the 26' SeaRays before I bought the CD25.

As to the Lower Ches. Bay, she can be much like Lake Michigan, depending upon where you are with respect to tides, shore lines and wind directions. The tides will only bother you in the inlets, or close to the pilings of the bridges. Yes, the Bay can get very nasty in heart beat, but you have to love her and respect her.

When I launch from Marina Shores I have 2 very nice options. If the WX is > small craft winds I can operate all thru the Lynnhaven, Linkhorn & Broad Bay areas (allprotected waters). Otherwise I can explore the Eastern Shore, Norfolk, Hampton, James River, Atlantic fishing grounds and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel areas; just to mention a few.

There are many nice ports to explore within 100 miles of Marina Shores from NC to Richmond to MD and to Capt. Cats (Charlie's) area to mention a few more.

There are many marinas around Norfolk. If you plan to trailer a CD25 there are many reasonable launch ramps and a couple of public ones immediately available giving you access to some beautiful rivers and waterways.

You mentioned you had a SeaRay 26. I would assume it was an I/O of the Sundancer series. Either way most of this group seem to be more of a modified deep 'V'; the CD is not and would be better displayed than to be explained here.

It was great talking to you today (Tuesday).

I have our meeting on my calender for Thursday, 21 Feb., at Marina Shores anytime after 1000. I plan to have Sea Angel on a work rack to charge the batteries and do "thingies". I don't think it will take too long for any of this to be done.

I can have the water on for you so you can have a hot cup of tea or coffee, if you wish. It should be a little cool, but that is where the WALLAS stove shines. I hope it doesn't embarrass me.

Jan & I are looking forward to meeting you and Wolfgang. If he is available, please feel free to bring him along.

As you pass 282 W Bay Ave outside the back gate of NAS Norfolk, wave at Apt #7. It is where my wife and I started married life in late June 1969 when I returned from Vietnam.

Lots of good memories there and in Virginia Beach -- wired the original 17th Street Surf Shop (an old Chinese laundry on Virginia Beach Boulevard) for our friends.
