New members' intro

Don and Mary, WELCOME!!!

I too am recently retired from my career fire service tenure, but stayed onboard as a volunteer (just can't quit completely yet). I knew DaveS was in the service, but was unaware there were so many of us idots that run into burning places and not out of them!! I think you will really enjoy the PUB as the folks on here are great, a storehouse of knowledge and always willing to help (kinda reminds you of brother and sister firefighters)!! I spend more time on the PUB enjoying the regulars on a daily basis trying to absorb as much information as I can than placing posts. I plan on placing an order for a 22 later this summer and am getting more nervous/excited as I read about those of you who are now in the waiting game. ENJOY and I hope to meet you on the water one of these days!

Doug & Glenda

Welcome to the C-Brats Don and Mary.

Hey Dave S., good memory. I worked for L.A Co. Fire Dept. fighting brush fires in the 70's. Most of the time we would respond from the water dropping helicopters. Man those were the days!

Nurse R. is around here somewhere. I'll see if I can get her on here.

Add me to the list of fire challenged. Been a volunteer since 1968. Took a time out for a while while I was a commissioner for the district and now back here at Guemes in my 25th year.

Nurse Ratchet here...
Dave S., I'm a little slow on the invite here. Can't say I've ever met Don yet; must have been a different Nurse Ratchet...

Anyway, the law enforcement, fire fighter stuff keeps coming back to haunt me too. Prior to being a nurse I dabbled in Law enf. for years; including a 5 yr stint as a 911 police/fire/ems dispatcher. Telling the guys in black & blue & green what to do & where to go. There's much more in the archives but it's not worth dredging it up.

Welcome Don & Mary !

I knew but had forgotten that you used to "pack iron" and "carry cuffs" on your belt...........I'm guessin' that Catman wasn't aware of that......or he certainly would be treating you as a lady should be treated. Catman, sounds to me that the "snappin' gloves" might be the least of your problems....

Holy cats. That chick carries a gun and rubber gloves? Nurse R, I take back everything.
:!:

Catman, I guess I figured you wrong....I was thinking you'd be more concerned about the "cuffs" than the "gun". :disgust

It's beyond my capabilities, but someone could probably do an interesting analysis of the reasons for the affinity between present and former firefighters and C-Dorys.

I'm not sure why it exists, but I'm pleased. 8)

Doug and Glenda, the waiting for a particular boat is hard, isn't it? I'm "Jonesin'" big time.

Thanks, Jon and CLou.

Cynthia, I actually never knowingly dated a "Nurse Ratchet." I was just reacting with mock horror to the similarity between your nickname and the menacing "Big Nurse Ratched" in Ken Kesey's "One flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."

Like most single firefighters(at the time) I did date several nurses; none who resembled Nurse Ratched, though.

When the guy finishes his study on firefighter/C-Dory relationships, he should do one on firefighters/ nurses. There is definitely something there. 8)

Thanks, everybody.

I'll try to get Mary on here after a bit. It's amazing to me how a chick who never meets a stranger, never stops talking, and could carry on a conversation with a dept. store mannikin, can be so shy on the 'Net.
