When I lived in Tucson a number of years ago (about 20-25), that kind of thing was fairly common. It also was not unusual to see a holster strapped across the handle bars of a chopper or someone with a piece in a holster next to you in the grocery store. During the time that I lived in Tucson, I swear that were at least 2-3 traffic related fatalities/shootings a month. It definitely was not the city in which to flip someone off when they cut you off or did something stupid/overly aggressive. I don't know if it's still like that, but I don't miss that aspect of the town.
