Welcome to the brotherhood (sisterhood) of C-Dory owners. Never a better group of people you will ever meet.
The question can not be answered by us. All I can say is that the 22' C-Dory is enough boat for me to handle. I run her pretty much solo. There is plenty of room for everything I need and she will go anyplace I want to go.
As for a tow vehicle, the 22' can be towed with an Explorer, or sister cars. The 25 has to be towed with the real big SUV's.
Also cost of ownership goes up in a geometric portion to the length. I don't know the costs to run and maintain a 25', but I bet it cost twice as much as a 22'. The cost to buy is around double.
From my point of view, you made the right choice.

The Cape Cruise is no longer in production, so yes you made the right choice.
Your fuel mileage will vary just like in a car. Water conditions, wind speed and direction, size of load you are carrying, and your speed will all affect your mileage.
C-Dory has a performance chart here that can give you a starting point. Be aware those numbers are with ideal conditions and a light load.

The rule of thumb I've learned so far is "One third out, one third back and one third for reserve "I have really enjoyed the twins, the low speed steering control is supurb. We are pretty new to the C-Dory, (first power boat) and just started this spring. There are others on this site who can and will be much more help to you than I can be, so I'll wish you congratulations and we will look for you on the water.

One thing I particularly like about C-Dory gas tanks is I can see how
much gas is left. No depending on cranky fuel gauges. I will run
the C-Dory tanks much further down than I ever would a tank I can't
see inside. Maybe if I had known good fuel flow meters, I would.

Hi Brats,
This is my first day with the boat, handles excellent low speed. Still getting used to trim tabs never had them before. It's really hard for me to tell if this boat is on plane compared the my old Campion. Had a few tech issues the guages for them trim tabs aren't working the dealer could quite explain why? Supposedly new one on order. The fuel rate with only 4hrs on the engine so far is 3.8 to 4.7 gph @ 3500 to 4000 rpm and speed is 14-19 mph. This is with the Yamaha 50s. Trying to break in the engine nicely . Any suggestions? Hope to continue to update. Thanks everyone

Welcome to the club Harm. Just joined myself. I had a few thrilling moments with my tabs in my 19'Angler the port rocker switch stuck in the bow up mode while the starboard was full bow down, a little WD40 fixed it up. I'm still getting used to them. With a whole 13hrs on the boat I'm a long way from an expert.

Just in case your looking for a name for your boat, I'll through one into the mix, C-nuck, an abreviated Canuck. I grew up up there, but because my folks were US, and didn't take Citizenship I never actually was one. Anyway, good luck on the naming.

If you have the Bennett trim tabs with the trim indicator and the four yellow lights are flashing or all the LEDS are flashing when you turn the key on. This tells you that they need to be calibrated mine were doing the same thing when I pickup my boat. The dealer didn't know why so I read the book. After I went through the calibration everything was working fine. Just a guess. Welcome to the C-brats.

If you take out the check valve the factory told me that the pump will short cycle from the water running back down the pipe. There will be a few problems with any boat, all of mine have had some leaks or other problems. Some of them the dealer couldn't fix and I got tried of taking it in to them, so I fixed them myself. My CD22 is in Utah and the dealer is in Seattle so most of the Warranty items I will be doing myself. Unless it is something major, then I will have to make a trip.

There was an article in , I think, Passagemaker magazine last year relating a 'club' of ppl who bought old trawlers, fishing, cruising, etc, and remodeled them. One of the first points made was that, even buying new, the best, most expensive yacht, you are going to have about a dozen glitches where things don't jive and work as expected. Some one had usually already worked the glitches out of the used boats.
So, sorry about the disappointment, but you are not alone. As someone mentioned earlier, there is alot of trim, dust, shavings, etc., scatterered about that hull which could accumulate in a screen, pump, or valve and cause some problems. Even if there were no problem now, I guarantee you're going to have to get down and clean or replace that pump, screen, or valve sometime during the first five years anyway.
Enjoy the good times and just write off the glitches - they're gonna be in almost anything - it's not a perfect world.
I am certain you will learn to love your C-Dory in the long run!
