New phone need app help

I upgraded my Droid X to a Galaxy IIIs. Have made the transfer of contacts, activated it, etc. moved the SD card to the new phone.

My Navionics charts are on the SD card, I can see them. I paid for the Navionics app on the old phone, do I have to buy it again or is there a way to avoid that?

The new phone is neat, haven't begun to figure everything out, the manual, which I downloaded, is 181 pages long... :disgust

Hi Charlie,

If you bought it from a local store, they should be able to do the transfer for you. If not, you should be able to redownload any paid apps directly from The Market (or whatever Google calls it now) for free. You'll need your log-in and password. You can't transfer them from one Google account to another.

I had that issue when my first Droid died, and I couldn't remember what my account log-in was. :crook I had to buy Navoinics again. I didn't even recall having an account log-in... I think the guy at the Verizon Store must have set something up when I first bought that old phone.

I have a Google account that I use every day. It was seamless for me to transfer everything over to the Droid X.......now waiting for the New 4G IPhone.

Of course, you won't be able to transfer apps from Android to iPhone. I contacted Navionics early on about transferring the iPhone/iPod app to the Android... nope. Assuming (like us, with a "mixed marriage") that you have apps on your phone and Willie's iPhone already.

I do like Joan's iPhone, but my Droid Bionic has made our internet connection while traveling (it's our hotspot) a breeze.

Thanks Jim and Harvey. I bought the upgraded phone through Verizon, on the internet, we have no stores here. Not sure which Navionics app it was, east coast and lakes I think. I have one for the iPad too, I know it's different. I'll have to search for a receipt for the android one. I think it's called the Play Store now...

There might be a manual for my iPhone, I don't know, have never needed one!

Pat and I are friends. Bet there are lots of things that his iPhone will do that he doesn't know...but it can't loosen a lug nut either. :disgust

Btw, found the receipt for the app from last year, it cost £9.99. Sent them an email... :thup

Well, they answered me. They are trying really hard to get me to buy another app but I think I'll follow the instructions and see if they work.

The Marine: US East app has been discontinued due to the release of the new Navionics Mobile single apps (ex. Marine & Lakes: USA). Please be advised that the original apps are no longer being supported, and will no longer receive updates.



The new Navionics Mobile single app is not an update to the previous regional apps, but an entirely new app product. This app will feature a much larger coverage area, updated chart data, as well as many new features that were not possible to include with the build of the original apps. If you would like to continue to get the most updated information and features, Navionics recommends upgrading to the new single app. The single app will require an additional purchase.



If you decide to reinstall your previously purchased app, please click on the link provided, and follow the instructions provided below:

User installation instruction for the Android Bundle 5.3.2:

1- Enable the 'Unknown sources' in the device's Settings

By default, most Android devices only allow to install applications through the Google Market. In order to allow you to manually install the bundle with this .apk file, go to your device's Settings, tap on the Applications menu item, and activate the check-box 'Unknown sources' in the following list (if not already activated).

2- Open the email received from mobile@navionics.com on your mobile device (recommended)

3- Tap on the attached file (.apk) and follow the instruction that will appear on the device screen

Well, it worked! I have the app back with all of the charts on my phone! Not exactly how they said to do it but somehow, I figured it out! Always surprises me.. :disgust
