Hello. My name's Jeff and I'm buying a new 22' cruiser with a Honda VTEC 90 and a Honda 9.9 Hi Thrust kicker. Both will be power tilt and connected to common steering with a dual throttle quadrant to keep things clean and simple I hope. The only other non-standard additions are an anchor windlass and two-axle trailer. Other than that, it's a pretty standard boat I guess. Green trim. No name yet. I'll probably get it in two or three weeks.

I plan to put a kayak rack on top and some scuba tank holders in the cockpit. Other than a VHF radio, I don't have any immediate plans for more electronics. I have a lot of extra equipment from my sailboat and ski boat recent past. Actually, I'm still using the sailboat and haven't decided if I'll sell it yet.

I see there are other Southern California owners. I'm near Oceanside, CA and spend time at Catalina and other places. I plan to trailer the boat to The Delta, Tahoe, Lake Powell, etc., in addition to local ocean use.

I also notice an upcoming Catalina trip. The dates might be in conflict for me, but I'll consider it.

I've already found some good ideas on your site. I look forward to learning more.

Welcome to the cult, Jeff. I'm just south of you in Encinitas CA with a 22 cruiser. What dealership did you go through? I've not seen one south of Oxnard/Port Hueneme for more than a year. Lots of knowledgable skippers on here, you will enjoy every tidbit gleaned from the forums.

The Jenny B is moored at MCRD in San Diego and we used to launch at Oceanside regularly. Especially nice with their new launch ramps.

I too frequent the same areas you do, keep an eye out for me, blue and white 22' cruiser named C-Pelican.

Just bought a kayak myself and many people here advised me how to mount it though I have not made a final decision yet. Will be curious to see what you come up with.
Also looking to begin diving again though its been 20 years since my last dive.

This is a great site for advice and is very friendly.

Welcome! I googled the dual throttle quadrant thing and only found references to aviation. Can you provide more info? Is it a Honda option?

Welcome aboard, Jeff. I'd like to personally invite you to our bash at the Catalina Isthmus in August. This year we are going to be getting alot of support from the factory and our new local dealership, who covers from Dana Pt. to Ventura. Would love to see you over there, if not for the entire week, then just for a couple of days. I know you'll enjoy yourself greatly.
 
Welcome Jeff to the SoCal clan! Another diver, fantastic. If you can make it at all, even for a few days, just do it (but careful, once you're there you'll be hooked for sure and will do ANYTHING to stay -- including lying to work about the major disease you can't seem to shake...).
