Hi all, I'm new to the site. I pick up my new CD 25' in 2 weeks, I can't wait. Does anyone know of an insect repellant that you can spray onto screens to keep the no-see-ums out. There was a product called "Screen Pruf" by Protexall out a few years ago but they stopped production. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Swede,
Welcome to the best owners group on the net, or as we call it--- The Pub.

It would be nice if you would fill out your profile so we could see where you are located, what boat you have (a 25' CD)

Enjoy,

Swede. welcome to the group. You might want to add your location to your profile. That you are concerned about no-see-ums indicates you are not from the NW. I don't have the info you are looking for, but someone will. You will love your 25.

We get delivery on our new boat tomorrow so I know the feeling. After 20+ years of cruising in SW Florida, we have not found any successful deterent for no sees. Some of the chemicals will kill them, but only after several hours after they have sampled you. Some friends have had success with mega doses of vitimin B, but it did not work with me.

I've lived on the ICW in North Carolina and Florida all my 60 years. Some years ago people use to spray pam on their screens to keep out the sand knats. It kept them out but at the same time made a pretty good mess when they stuck to the screen and died. I've found when anchored out at night it makes a huge difference to keep the windows covered of course this can make it pretty muggy in hot weather. You probably already know about it but skin so soft now makes a combination bug repellant and suntan lotion. It works pretty good for me.
