Just signed up after watching for sometime.

A wannabe as I'm temporarily boatless :unlove

An avid fisherman, Northern Calif, Mexico, Alaska.

Have had 4 boats in past, last was 22" Seaswirl Striper. But now live in Fresno, CA sans boat. Next one will be a either a 22 or 25 C-Dory, but maybe a year or two. Gotta see what works for the wife.

Name is Bob Dimand (RJD = Robert J Dimand), I'm a Pediatrician

Love this site, I keep drooling, hopefully the wait won't be long.

Bob-
Welcome to the site! I've had several boats over the years and we are very happy with our '06 cruiser. Plenty of room for cruising and fishing 3 or four
good friends.
Hope your boatless time isn't too long!

Welcome, Bob! This is a great site, a great resource, and also a great place to watch for a boat for sale if you are not going to buy new...which may be the right way to go these days.

I also just registered for this site, as I am considering the advantages of becoming a C-dory 25 owner. I currently own a 1988 SeaRay 268 Sundancer, but want to sell it, and am thinking about maybe replacing it with the CD-25. As with new cars, I hate seeing the depreciation as soon as I get it off the dealers lot. A previous message mentioned used boats here. Does this site have a page for used C-Dory's for sale? I live in the Midwest, and would be interested in learning about any of this particular model for sale.

Welcome! Go to Forums, then scroll down to the C-Dory Marketplace!

Cheesehead--- A dealer is in Superior Wi. Last time I was kicking tires they had a 25. Also a 25 is kept in the Washburn Marina its not for sale that I know of. Its about a six hour ride from Madison.

Bob – welcome aboard. Glad to have you as a member of this site. Hope our paths cross someday if you ever make it to the Northwest.

Hang around long enough and I can just about guarantee you will become a C-Dory owner.

Good luck in your search for a c-Dory.

Chris, funny you mention the dealer in Superior. We are actually planning on taking our SeaRay up to the Apostles next week, and are detouring slightly to the west to stop at the Northwest Outlet to see that boat. I spoke with the salesperson, and he indicated the boat's price has been lowered, but it sounds like a new boat. I've also heard, closer to home, there is a CD-25 slipped in Port Washington. BTW, I believe the boat in Superior has a 135 hp outboard. I'm wondering if a 150 wouldn't be better? Also any thoughts about twin vs. single? Initially I thought having twin 90's might be a good thing. However, I'm not too excited about having a boarding ladder over the side. We'd be using the boat for fishing, cruising, and family swim outings....

A little advice: Don't show her the 25 first, maybe not at all! As soon as she sees the bathroom, well, it's usually all over...good luck and have fun with your research.

One thing you do not have to worry about with a C-Dory is it’s value falling like a rock like most other boats or cars. They hold their value quite well.

Good luck in your search for a c-Dory.

RJD- Welcome to the neighborhood. You mention your last boat was a 22'Seaswirl Striper. We had an 18 foot Striper and had lots of fun on it. It definately was a lot of boat for the money. The C-Dory, however, is a whole different 'animal'. Our 18'Striper had a 115hp engine and 50 gallons of gas. Our 22 foot C-Dory had a 75hp engine and our 16 footer has 40 hp and 12 gallon fuel capacity! If you really enjoy standing in the open air at the helm and flying on plane, as in the Striper, well, you can't do it in the C-Dory. There is no carpet glued to the bulkhead and no sun shining through thin fiberglass on the C-Dory, The cleats are twice as beefy....and of course with the C-Dory you get the C-Brats!

Cheesehead and RJD -
Welcome to the pub! Ohh, thinking of pubs sure brings back good memories of the days we spent in Madison while at University there -- great town (has to be, built right between the lakes!) We lived in Eagle Heights (grad school housing, for the rest of you) in a tiny two bedroom apt with three kids -- great training for later years living on a C-Dory 22. Those were wonderful years!!

El and Bill,

What years were you in Madison? What a spectacular place?

Thanks to the generosity of the good people of the state of Wisconsin, that is my alma mater but it wasn't until my son went there in the early 90s that I could see it through more-traveled eyes and fully appreciate what an absolutely unique place that it is.

One of my fondest memories was sitting at the top of Observatory Hill late one night, with a beautiful girl beside me, looking out across the moonlit waters of Lake Mendota while a fraternity group down behind the girls' dorm serenaded the ladies with "Moonlight Bay" To say I was completely in love at that moment is one of the great understatements of all time.

Many years later, whenever my wife and I found ourselves under sail under a full moon, I would sing that song and be magically transported back to that long ago night of enchantment.

Jim
