Ocean Alexander 42'

Wow--beautiful "upgrade". Congratulations! A close friend had an OA 42--different cabin layout, but appears to be similar hull. It was a first class boat. Probably some of the best built of that era. (And still is.).

A boat unit may take on a new definition: a mega boat unit of 10K....Yours looks to be in excellent shape. The TAMD 72 EDC series were used in a lot of commercial vessels in this time period. Things to keep an eye on is the turbo, and after cooler--plus the seals to the manifolds. At 1600 hours they have a lot of life left, and in commercial operations go over 10,000 hours. I had a smaller TAMD series, in a single engine trawler and it was bulletproof. I believe that you may be able to get an MNEA interface if the engines do not have one yet. (I know the 73's can.)

Byrick, you won't be trailering THAT puppy to Lake Powell! Where will it be moored? I have heard moorage is scarce at Squalicum these days. I see it came from Edmonds, what are your cruising plans?

I relocated to Portland and now live on a floating home. I'll be mooring it where I live for the time being but might just buy a boat house for it to keep it under cover when not being used. I'll primarily use it for client showings, traveling around Portland and then once a year around the outside to play in the San Juans.
