Off to Alaska

After many months of planning we are leaving tomorrow morning to Skagway, Alaska. Will be trailering the boat to there and then approximately 30 days on the water between Skagway and Fredrick Sound. First bay or inlet we plan to explore is Dundas Bay which is in Glacier Bay National Park, but not boat controlled. From there its Elfin Cove to down the west side of Chichagof Island to Sitka. After that not completely decided, but many routes made with at least a stop at Fords Terror and Red Bluff Bay again.

Hope to come back with some good tales, photos and video.

Still lacking in boat experience for such an solo boat adventure, but have hopefully made up for it in extra planning.

Looking forward with great expectation to the combination of Hunkydory and Mokai and the remote places they can take us.

Jay & Jolee, that's a wonderful trip and you'll be thrilled. Get some good tide and current tables, you'll use them.

Fredrick Sound is where the humpback whales feed in the summer and it's spectacular. Also go up Tracy Arm and visit the glaciers.

We're trailering our boat from So Cal to Lake Superior, and whilst no rocks have hit the boat, every insect in the country has hit the front windows and radar. I understand that Alaska has more, so take a lot of soap.

Good luck, Boris

Jay & Jolee – have a safe and fun trip to Alaska. I will be looking forward to your reports, photos and videos, especially your trip to Fords Terror. Jolee, don’t drop the camera this time.
