Open up C-22 berth?

If you find a good way to solve the problem of removing the the seat back for the aft facing forward seat, I would be interested in what you come up with.

I like this project right up to the point where Kathleen and I sit down to eat or play a game of cards.

I'm thinking of something along the lines of the reversible seat on the Tom Cat adapted to the 22. The B-C album shows a mod to give him more helm room -- same idea might work on the other side.

I like the Gypsy mod, especially the swivel seat; my first mate would love that. However, the second mate would have to find a place to sleep or I’d have to come up with another way to make the dinette a sleeper. Indeed this has got me to thinking; I like the idea of a look-forward seat but don’t especially want to deal with the set-up and repositioning of the factory modification.
If there was a way do the Gypsy mods and preserve the dinette sleeper arrangement that would be great!
 
Warren, the sliding base to the forward seat on my 22 has a teak rail attached along its length on the table side. My table hinges in the center and has a slide underneath which slips into a spaced gap in the teak rail. Borrowing on this idea, a teak railing of the same design could be added to the bow side of the sliding base and a removable seat back that the cushion would snap to could be slipped into place and secured at the top somehow. I would be inclined to add a few inches of back tilt. The the extra board , if flat, could be stored under the cushions up front when not in use.
 
Triple J, the above design would save the third or second sleeping area as well. On our two week trip I slept in the dinette every night and we left our gear on one side of the cuddy. I tend to want to see where we are (not drifting and such) and get up first anyway. This mod would let us actually see each other which would be nice.
