Our Silent Members....

Just out of curiosity, I took a look at how many of our 1361 registered users had ever posted. I was surprised to find that there are 738 of them that had registered but never postsed even once. :embarrased

I'm sure these folks have a lot of interesting knowledge to contribute, let's hear from some of you, Please? Are we doing something wrong that keeps you silent or are you just shy, or what?

Maybe some of us (me included) are just too "wordy".

C'mon down!!

Charlie :sad

Too wordy....or just a big'ol case of C-Doryism.... it is kinda catchy.... See ya in a few days Brother!

Had great time in San Diego, great time in Los Angeles....and adrenilan rush just busting now waiting to get to Seattle and see my C-Dory family...

Hi Charlie and all,

I'm one of those new guys on the site. Our 25 TomCat is scheduled for May completion. I'm enjoying reading the tips, comments and plans in the forums.

You'll probably hear more from me as commissioning time approaches. :D
Roger

Great Roger, lured one out of the woodwork!

A new 25 owner at that!

Hope you're coming to the convention on Friday night....If so, see you there!

And that's TWO!!

Welcome Moldy, we've got lots of folks in your state of OR! Ask questions now so you don't make any mistakes in your quest....Of course, if you buy a C-Dory of any kind, you can't make a mistake!

C'Mon up for the gathering in Seattle....

Charlie

Hey you quiet ones I need some help.

We recently sold our C-Dory because we are in the middle of some major life changes that deal with relocation to Central Oregon and I agree with "Captains Choice" so some of you quiet ones need to step up and fill the gap for Judy and I till we get a handle on things. Now that we have our new piece of property and the Lynn Marie has been sold I seem to be making more posts that I did earlier in the fall. Now it's time for me to put pencil to paper and start to draw house plans so I may not be as able or willing to jump into a topic with which I have knowlege or interest. That's where you "Quiet Ones" come in. Please fill the gap! I'm sure that all of you have as much to contribute as you do to learn from this site and we all welcome your incites, opinions, and backlog of knowledge. All it takes is a very, very, small bit of courage to make your presence know and after post number One it's really hard to stop and the membership here always hopes that you please won't. So be brave and be helpful, the rewards to your boating and ownership of a C-Dory will be the better for it.

We look forward to our next C-Dory and I look forward to saying "Hello" to all the many friends we have made on this site at the SBS and CBC. As Pat of the "Daydream" said a couple of days ago the C-Dory community is more special than the boat itself. We needed to give up the boat for awhile but not the community. The community here will welcome you as it did us.

Oh, no--- Not another Roger!!

The more Roger's the merrier I say. That way we can all take credit for the smart/useful things the other Roger's say AND say "Oh you must be referring to a different Roger" when we say something stupid or piss someone off!

I'am also one of those silent members. As a new member I just sit back read and learn from C-DORY owners. I am launching for the first time my 2006 25 cruiser named lil toot tomorrow. Was going to launch today but foged in on the New Jersey coast. Hope everything goes well.

Congratulations Bobby! That's great, both on the new boat and on getting active on the site. Don't be a stranger! Lots of great folks here, I'm currently at the Seattle Boat Show, waiting to go to the gathering after a great day at the SBS and the Boeing Museum!

Again, welcome, let's have some pictures of Lil Toot!

That is truly miraculous!! I bet this site will continue to thrive, long as it don't get too "good-old-boyish" :)

What I have found irritatin' is to welcome some new slob into a group that has no manners to answer there "welcome post" at least! Out on their ear they go! :bat :xlol :xseek go ahead - now is your time to take a potshot at old Pirate RedFox :x

Dunno about taking a potshot at you, RedFox, but the subject "Silent Members" gives me the creeps. Radio Amateurs have long had a tradition of naming amateurs who have died "Silent Keys." When I first saw the subject, my instant reaction was "who died?"

Frankly, I'd rather call the folks who choose to be in the silent majority "Taciturn members", "Lurkers", or just ignore them for they know not what they miss....

Don

Whoa, Don, that Silent Keys meaning does kind of reach out and grab you.

I just figure the members who have yet to post are friends I have yet to meet.

The c-brats site isn't utilized by everyone for the same reasons. Those lurking members may have found the information they need and don't need to post....or just don't like some of the reactions one gets when one posts. Let's face it....some people use the internet as a way to interact and gather information, some see it as their personal fiefdom, and try to act like know-it-alls. That can get a little boring.

My posts have most often been answered by people with fewer posts...who offer specific facts and links....they are great, even though they don't post as often as others. You can almost predict some responses to a post...they will come off as critical, skeptical, and full of assumptions and flippant remarks. Not helpful at all.

As the saying goes:
It's better to remain silent and be thought of as a fool, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Seems every time I open my mouth, it's to pull out my size 8 1/2 foot. :embarrased

Terry, you're much too hard on yourself. Caryn and I think that you're one of the nicest people we've met from the site. It was great seeing you at the factory party.

As for choosing to post or not post, that's a personal decision. Nothing wrong with learning by observing what others do. You know, to each his own. Although I have noticed a lot of new posters just today, which is a nice way to start off the new year.

We are new members and proud new owners of Ed and Alice's boat "Lowflyer" a 2003 - 22' Cruiser. Our boat is currently at the C-Dory factory having some additions added to it prior to us taking it home to Vancouver, BC. Those who were at the Factory party may have seen it there as we delivered it on the Friday the day before the big bash.

We'd been looking for a boat for the past 2 years and came upon the C-Brat's website, reading reading and fell in love with the C-Dory. Within a week we had found "Lowflyer" and bought it.

We then cruised through the photo albums to get ideas and decide on what modifications we'd like and called the factory to see what they could do.

Brett and Chet were terrific to talk to and they said they could handle all of our needs. We also called Dave at King Canvas and he said that he could do all of the canvas work while the boat was at the factory saving us another trip from Vancouver where we would have had to move the boat from Auburn to Seattle.

Anyway, we look forward to getting on the water with our C-Dory and meeting up with all of you from C-Brats!

The Bohemians on "Blue Skies & Sunshine" formerly "Lowflyer". :D

P. S. We will post pictures when we get her back.
