Dear Fellow Brats,

Just returned from cruising the outer banks of North Carolina in my CD22. It was the first real voyage of any distance with the wife and dog. I was a bit worried how it would work out in such a small boat, but we had a ball!

Trailered the boat to Oriental, NC spent the night there at a marina. Next morning down the Neuse River to Hatteras. A 60 mile trip across the Pamlico Sound. We averaged about 18 miles an hour so it was easy 3 1/2 hour trip. Spent the night there among the huge 70 foot fishing boats. They were coming in with nice catches, mostly Dolphin, but also Wahoo, Mackrel, Amberjack and some Cobia.

Next day we went south 20 miles to Ocracoke. Spent 2 nights there. Love the place. Friendly people and good food. Rented a jeep and rode on the beach and swam in the 68 degree water. Refreshing!

Returning back to Oriental was a rough trip. In the middle of the sound ( no land in sight) we had short 2-3 foot seas, very tightly spaced. Best speed was 6-8 mph (gps) so it took us a while to get back, but it got smoother the closer we got to land.

Best thing, 11 hours of run time. Total fuel burn 44 gallons. I love these boats!

Best Regards to you All,

Bill
