PNW Flooding

How's the rain/flooding situation in your neck of the woods?

Here in the mid valley, seeing lots of high water in the fields and across roads. Rivers are high. With several more days of rain predicted, could this be a recap of the 1996 flooding?

Maybe having a boat setting in the driveway isn't a bad thing.......

Pouring in Canby. I haven't been down to look at the Mollala, Pudding or Willamette rivers, but expect them to be high. Boat is in driveway, house on high ground!!

Snowing now, rain predicted on our 6 - 10" of accumulated snow. Warming trend coming. The canoe and boat may be handy, but pretty unlikely for my own safety here.

Here on Puget Island on the Lower Columbia the snow that fell earlier in the week has all melted and the rain is falling pretty fast. I live within 150 feet of the mighty Columbia and am keeping an eye on the level. Lots of standing water in many places on the island. The majority of the island is dike protected but I have the Zodiac inflated and the outboard mounted just in case...

Everything is totally saturated around Salem. We live east of there and are a few hundred feet higher and we have a lot of standing water so I would say yes, floods are coming. It is pouring and has been for two days. My wife was supposed to teach special ed this morning up in the foothills at a school in lyons but they cancelled school because it is already flooding.

Well its still snowing here in marysville but not north of here. At least not la Conner at the folks boat. We have about 7 inches total but have had more that melted yesterday. As soon as it starts to rain tomorrow, up to 2500 ft, its going to flood a lot around western Washington. the Gov. just declared a state of emergency so she can use the national guard later in the week. Which is a smart move. Should be fun.

28 degrees here in Sequim (formerly known as Sunny Sequim!) Snow just stopped. 10" accumulation here. Not expecting a thaw anytime soon.

Yesterday, the massive snow storm ("Snowmageddon") predicted for the Upper Left Coast passed us by here in Snoqualmie Valley, although it paralyzed Seattle. It was supposed to warm up and all melt today, but instead we got a record ice storm. Trees down everywhere, roads blocked, power out. Really bad. I am running the trusty rusty Costco 5kw generator to power the house tonight, including this computer. About to turn it off and go to bed, hoping tomorrow will see some improvement!

About 1/2 inch of snow here in Port Alberni with warming trend coming in tomorrow. Expecting rain for the next few days with highs around 7 to 8 degrees.
I have heard of some winter springs being caught around Namint last weekend.

No flooding....YET. We have over 10" of snow and the temp has not gotten over 30F since Tuesday. :x I've already swept off the boat cover twice, dug out the walkway five times and today we picked up another 3". Enough w/ winter already. Me no likey. Supposed to "warm up" by tomorrow, but I will believe it when I feel it. I wouldn't care, but I've had to work all three days. Next will come the urban flooding. Oh...and my cable's out too. :|

Sorry to hear about your problems in the PNW I remember having days of overcast and lots or rain and snow . but the summers are worth it .
Anyway it's going to be in the low 80's this weekend . down here in Naples ,fl

Power just came back on after being out since 8AM yesterday. We have two fireplaces, one gas and one wood so we were cozy. Used our Coleman one burner propane stove for coffee and pasta. Candlelight was nice. We're still stuck on our iced over hill but we'll just wait it out. God bless those linemen and emergency crews.

Now that I'm off for a few days the defrost is on; in the high 30's w/ rain now. I have to commend Angola Canvas; the Sunbrella cover took the snow load without issue. I did sweep most of it off prior to the rains as I didn't want the extra weight on it, but it's all melted and the cover looks fine.

You folks sure do pay a toll to live in the beautiful PNW.

Yup :!: Extremely very few, almost never tornadoes, no hurricanes, few bugs, no gators, and summers without air conditioning. Mountains with snow on top, green trees and we even have dolphins, just not as close as Jim's :photo

  :wink
