Always help available from the C-brats on most topics so I thought I toss out a line and see if any of our Vets are using Space A flights in/around the NW area. I know I can dig it up, call up and see if info is current and so on but is anyone up to speed on what is available/happening in the area now?

Thanks

Whidbey NAS to and from Pensacola and other NAS frequently. McChord AFB to Dover, Charlestion, Midwest and East coast base often. If you're really interested they also go to Baghram Afghanistan about weekly. Check Space-A.com.

What are the criteria for Space A for non retirees? (Ie someone who has served only 4 years?). In reading the current regs, it appears that there is a priority scale, and even reservists & Guard/families are well down the list. I flew Space A a number of times when I was on active duty--never occurred to me it might be available, unless I was a full retiree.

Wow--Whitby to PNS. I could go up there on a regular basis--SBS, FHGathering etc…(PNS is about 3 miles from my back door--the Blues just flew over my house--a regular occurrence).

I would also like to know the answer to bobs question. space A flights are the only thing that I wanted from retirement. I "only" served 8 years. Got to count for something.

As far as I know Space-A is available to active duty, reserves on orders, retired military and dependents of those categories traveling with their sponsor. Medically retired should also be able to fly. You need a valid retired military ID.

Excellent! Thanks crew. With the 61's varied mission needs there is no telling what would come their way. I just need to drive over and meet the folks. Getting ready to head back to TN for the winter rainy months and I generally fly between here and there about 4 times a year in addition to the road trips. I use a Southwest Airlines credit card for most purchases so I can clear a few trips a year there. Me saving those flights for getting family and friends out here to join me for some PNW water fun would be sweet....particularly during the humpy seasons. Of course....the crab and shrimp are always here too!

Back in the day I was right on top of the rules and regs...and...some gray areas that could be used but after 911 & my retirement 7 years back I have not even looked at it.

I appreciate the feedback and help.

Barry is correct, Space-A is limited to active duty, reservists on orders, and military retiree's. And it's a priority system. As one commentor stated: The family pet of an active duty person will board before a retiree.

We have always wanted to try Space-A but haven't gotten around to it yet. ...maybe one of these days.

a pretty informative site for Space-A travel is http://pepperd.com

Best,
