Pocket Yacht's New Motor

Sorry to say my 1988 40hp Evinrude packed it in four days before the 4th this summer, so I bit the bullet and bought a new 50 hp Evinrude e-Tec.

WOW!!! What a motor! I had less that 5 hours on it before I had to make an emergency run home from the San Juan Is. Round trip of 80 miles and Rosario was rough as a cob. I burned about 10gallons of gas and a quart of oil and it never missed a beat. I'm impressed.

Hi Jack,

Good to see you here, and glad you are liking the new upgrade. I bet that 50 runs like a new Corvette.

I was at Reid Harbor when you were there with friends across the dock. Seemed like you were working on that other (older) OB for most of the weekend. I do remember you did get a fish there though.

Thanks for the update.

This last one was quite a summer Harvey. I burned a hole through an exhaust manifold, lost the battery charger and an alternator in the big boat.

We didn't get any further than Desolation Sound and cut the trip short by 3 weeks. Everything is back together now, but I've been places in my boat no old fat guy should ever try to get into.

You did well, my friend. Still floating, and running better than ever.

Here's to a better summer next time.
