several months ago there was a post regarding how best to get from the trailer to the bow, when luanching and retrieving. well, during a trip to my local marine supply store i found a sea dog protable 4 step ladder. tried it out and it works perfect. www.wholesalemarine.com has it listed for $19.92 and west marine has a simular product, 5 step item listed for $31.99. i secured the ladder to the bow cleat, didn't slip, held fast and can hold up to 300lbs. this by far is the least expensive fix for climbing onto and off of the bow that i can come up with. hope this helps.
best regards all,

Is THIS the model?

P.S.: Do you think it is more awkward using a rope ladder than a rigid one?

Doesn't the rope ladder swing under to from vertical to follow the contour of the hull?

Warren

affirmative, this is the model with the exception of it being a 4 step rather than the 5 step as shown.
the rope ladder seems to be very stable, is extremely easy to stow and therefore makes it more desirable than the rigid type ladder. it can be used both fore and aft.
when i step off the bow onto the ladder i do so under as much control as possible and it doesn't seem to be a problem for me. however, having said that, i would caution, my good friend brydman from consuming a bottle of cheap wine and then jumping onto the rope ladder, or for that matter i would equally caution capt. matt from assisting brydman while consuming large quantities of freshing corked cheap wine.
best regards
