Sometimes people will post a C-dory that's for sale elsewhere, like Craigslist (for example) on this site. Is there an etiquette to this? Any reason we would NOT want to do that? Or do we want to bring as many C-dory's into our fold as possible!?

My opinion is yes. I know there may be more "trust" of a C-Brat seller, that just may suggest more due diligence would be needed to buy from another listing.

But we are new here and don't have the historical background to make a good opposing argument.

If one is a sponsor of this site ($$$ with paid ads), I believe that posts can be made for their boats for sale. To be a "C -Dory Broker" one would need to have a relationship with the factory.

The moderator makes the decision--this is a benevolent dictator ship--well run by the moderators. They make the decisions.
C-Dory Boats For Sale By Owner
Private party C-Dory sales. Ads are automatically deleted after 130 days of no followups. Please post a note once boat has been sold.

Although members do post Craig's list, private sales for others, and Boat Trader, etc-often times there is a brokerage involved. If so that would seem to violate the terms of the list. If a list member makes a profit off the list, I would believe that is a violation of ethics. For example, I do surveys on boats locally for members. I would not charge even if I had to dive 500 miles round trip, as I did a year ago. I agree it is nice to know where boats are for sale.

It is all up to the moderators--don't forget to put some $$ in the tip jar today. That is what keeps our site running.

Thanks Bob, I was sure that there was more to it than at first glance.

I agree with.

The only thing we really ask for the off site ads that are mentioned here is that they be posted in the General forum and not the C-Dory Boats For Sale By Owner forum. That one actually should read for sale by members.

Almost always when someone posts a Craigslist finding it is innocuous and genuinely meant to help anyone who may be looking. We do not like to see members post nothing more than a link to their Craigslist or other ad without taking the time to write up an ad in the format we like to see, but it happens and nobody has been kicked out for it yet.

A few times we have seen postings for off site ads by brokers or flippers. Those we remove if we catch them and invite the poster to subscribe to a banner ad on the site so they can post in the C-Dory Sales - Dealers forum. They always seem to decline, but it's worth a shot.

Thanks all,

I see C-dory's on Craiglist and other places from time to time, and just wonder if I should post the ads here to make more Brats aware of them(?). Not looking to make any money. This is actually how I found my cruiser, it was not posted on this site, but someone pointed me to a listing somewhere else.

I figure if we do this a lot, we will bring more and more C-dory's into our community, right? That's a good thing, right?
