2020 Friday Harbor CBGT is Official
May 14 to 17 FH, (Thurs) Friday(15) - Sunday(17)AM

It is on the book at Friday Harbor. The dates are set now, and you can start making your plans around those days. We still have the Thursday night "thing" going -- If we have 10 or more boats there on Thursday we will get the group rate for that night and the next 2 nights. We WILL HAVE the party barge for both Friday and Saturday this year. We also have "H" dock and they will make room on G (if we need it). I told Chris to plan on it.

So this year is going to be much like 2019 CBGT. At this point there is something less than a free for all brawl of folks wanting to jump in and take the lead. So, to get the ball rolling, I am willing to be go between (CBRAT to Friday Harbor Marina) and will open the floor up for volunteers for the various activities. (These will come up in a list down the way.) I am interested in:
1. Who is planning on coming. (We will have a sign-up page here shortly, I'm sure.) Boat Name, size and number aboard.
2. Dates to be on the dock.
3. Power / water hook-up
The above #1, 2, 3 should be posted in this thread PLEASE. AND sign in on the event "sign-up" list.

Any thoughts on preferred activities, meals or volunteering are welcome. Last year we had a pretty great time, and I attribute that to having such great teamwork. Let's do it again.

Note: There will be another thread posted regarding a "Pre FH-CBGT Cruise" also. This will be a group meet and/or launch at Coronet Bay State Park on Sunday, May 10, and cruise to some of the San Juan Islands and parks, arriving at Friday Harbor on Thursday, May 14. Please try and keep the individual threads/posts segragated.

Count on Joanie & I on C Sharp being there Thurs through Sunday morning. No power needed.

Harvey, Thank you for taking the reins on this and making sure it happens. Can't wait!

1. Gary and Colleen, DayBreak, 23 ft., 2 aboard.

2. 5/14-16/20 and leaving early Sunday morning.

3. No power or water.

Also, Harvey we would like to volunteer the donuts, muffins, pastries and orange juice for the Saturday morning meeting time from 7am to 9am that morning. If someone else could volunteer hot water, tea, hot chocolate and coffee, that would be great.

Thanks for putting this together Harvey.

Coolio. Don’t know if we will make it. Depends on work and overtime etc. we are very short-staffed and I don’t see it improving.

Gary thanks for volunteering the Sat AM pasteries. Much appreciated by all I'm sure.

So now, the door is open for someone to do coffee and drinks.

I know it is still early, and there's a fair amount of time. I will be working on putting a schedule together soon and post here. Again any ideas are welcome.

I just got a call from Chris at Port of Friday Harbor. This year we have a new manager there, and things will be a little bit different. We will need to confirm with them how many boats with some other more pertinent informaton. I will post that when I know, but one new change is that we will need to confirm this reservation with how many boats before 2 weeks prir to the event.

Not a big deal, but different than I remember from before.

Looking forward to meeting more c-brats! Miss Maria (22’) will be there Thursday-Sunday, with 4 onboard. Power would be great if available (because we are crock pot in the trunk people haha). Chips and queso and other Texas snacks could happen if anyone is into that. I’m a sommelier trained redneck: I can perfectly match a palate cleansing aperitif with a processed cheese product and ro-tel in a can.

Nigel. Great and there will be power for you there. You continue to amaze me.

Just looking around for Friday Harbor / San Juan Island info and found this.

SAN JUAN ISLANDS PLEDGE
I pledge to explore the San Juan Islands responsibly.

I will come prepared for any experience.

I will bring what I need, and won’t leave anything behind.

I will be courteous to all on the road, no matter the number of wheels.

I will feed my sense of adventure, but never the wildlife.

I will wander in the middle of the beach, not in the middle of the street.

I will venture into unfamiliar places while staying on familiar trails.

I will carve the waves and not the trees.

I will camp for the night in a designated site.

I will keep my distance from the seals and whales using a motor, paddle, or sails.

I will keep my fire in a ring and store-bought firewood I will bring.

I will leash my dog on the street and on the trail, and dispose of waste in the proper pail.

I will use a lens to zoom and give wildlife plenty of room.

I have to admit, I have been to FH a few dozen times and around the San Juan Island many, but have rarely strayed far from the harbor or shore line.

Well now, if Marco brings the big boat, we my need a slip open on the "G" dock as well. What if we could fill both of them.

Lets go for the record! What is the record for the highest number of boats attending a CBGT?

Steve, That's a great question. I don't have an exact answer. From my recall, I believe we had a year with just over 50, (maybe 52 boats), but some of those were boats that were that were there with C-Dory owners.

And we have often had C-BRATS come that were not on a boat too.

It would be fun to set a new record. Let's go for that.

Less than 3 months to go. That time will go fast. Plan ahead.

Maybe it is time to get a sign-up list started. That will keep it up on the front page for everyone as a reminder.

Thanks Bill and Mike.

We were there, I think it was 2014 when we had 52 boats. Our great turn outs only get equalled by Ranger Tugs. The C-Dory is certainly a brand and its loyal followers to be proud of.
The only downside with so many boats in attendance is getting around to chat with everyone in such a short time.

Ranger gatherings blow C-Dory gatherings away. Last year they had 250 boats at the Ranger Rendezvous in Roche Harbor.

Yes, and Ranger Tugs pick up a bunch of the tab for that.

BUT.....
Last year, NMI picked up the tab for our party barge at Friday Harbor CBGT and that was not only the first in a long time, but a serious step in the right direction.

Martin, thanks for the reminder. Pretty sure you are right. Hope to see you at FH-CBGT this year too.

Looking forward to seeing all the friends that we met at the Friday Harbor gathering. It’s going to be a grand event with all the c dorys there. Can’t wait to see Steve and Joanie and their babies and hanging out with Harvey, Elen and our new friend Brock. Preparing our boat for cruising this summer in canada and all the islands. A awesome adventure for 2 folks just new to the cruising world. Blessings to all

Man, I'm liking the FH enthusiasm here. And Ripple, sure good to know you'll have some time to get up here and explore with your beautiful blue 25. I have a feeling we'll have future cruises together with Harvey, and others, after we retire.
One point: I believe Ranger set the record last year with just over 200 boats. I think they hit 203. I've heard there's a few of them in these here parts.
