Prepping to Buy... Advice?

It's coming with a Honda 70.
I won't be fishing at all, but planning on killing lots of books and cups of coffee. Can't wait to start hiding from work and the world.

A lot of replies on this thread say something like "I just trust my GPS." Not a lot of boaters have heard there are now problems with bad actors hacking the GPS signals. Here's one article:

The GPS signals are quite weak (satellite to you, a long way) and apparently can be overpowered. The problem is clear enough that the Navy started requiring celestial navigation again at Annapolis a few years ago, fearing GPS would be unreliable in case of conflict.

Recreational boaters have a low chance of danger from this (let's be realistic) but it is another reason to have more than one method of navigation on your boat and in your head.

Interesting article, and always a good reminder. Generally so far, the spoofs are been relatively short range, and low power. But there is always a possible satellite attack, which has not been demonstrated thus far. Many of the new GPS units use the Russian GLONASS as well as US based GPS..European Galileo, and Chinese BeiDou/Compass are also semi-functional, as well as several other systems using different technology.

There is reasonable that alternate systems, using WiFi, G5, and cellular technology will be dominate for autonomous vehicles, to avoid issues with GPS.
