As far as pushing your boat into a tight space, will a front tow hitch work? I have my 22 at home and due to homeowners restrictions "can't be seen from the street" (a 22' C-Dory - one of the prettiest sights - I should charge them to look - what do they know anyway?) - I had to put her in a tight spot in the rear yard. I put a front trailer hitch on my Ford F150 and can manuever her in the tightest spots. Problem solved. I get to look at Swee Pea from most of the rooms of my house.
Just a suggestion. I don't know if it is applicable in your case.

Yes - no problem in the salt at all - but in the fresh water of Lake Washington, they seem to bite best on a VERY slow troll - so slow that the dodger is just fluttering like a leaf.

Last year I trolled at the same speed I always do even though we were in Lake Washington. I had my limits both times as soon as I found the schools of fish. I think it is a matter of finding the fish more than the boat speed. We had two doubles on the last weekend and they were all larger fish than I usually catch. We were also fishing really deep (90') as the water was sooo warm.

We tried running on the kicker at dead slow minus and had no action. Then when I fired up the main motor and idled it we started hitting fish. The V8 jet pushes the sled at about 3-4 mph and yet I have caught every kind of salmon in that boat at that speed.

I have found that having the higher trolling speed allows me to cover more water enabling me to find the schools of fish better. Even though the Sockeye follow a pretty nomal pattern when they are in the lake finding the schools can still take a bit of time. Once you find them though you should be able to get them! In my experience the Sockeye are pretty agressive fish.

Last year we even caught 2 cutts while fishing for the Sockeye!
 
Thanks Gary - that's good info. The abundance of good size cuts in Lake Washington seems to a little known secret since not too many people take advantage of this excellent fishery.
 
OK all of you brats hard core fisher men. I think I can help some of you. I have twin helm controls , that is 2 hydraulic steering, twin throttles system,variable RPM control ( need new Yamaha EFI for that one), on my twin engines. This system is SOOOOO sweet not just for trolling for salmon but to bring the boat on a dock by yourself. It is like driving your car in your drive way, well almost. When trolling, using my cockpit station all I have to do is look thru the window in front of me , 10'' GPS looking back at you , add a water proof camera, than you can see exacly what you would see if you were seating at the helm. Price wise I don't think you can compare that to a remote control auto pilot.... I do not have a auto pilot on my boat and personally will never buy one. Just love to have the control of my CD at all times .
 
Damn, now all you need is the Dogon Dory Dan strike indicator and you'll have it made......you gots a nice setup
 
Hi Ken, not quit sure what a dogon dory dan strike indicator is , but I do own a dogon brown lab name TIA that let me know that it always time to go fishing . She is my stryke indicator, she stands by both of my down riggers, when fish strikes the whole neighbourhood knows . Gary SEA RAM
 
scroll up about mid page for pic of the DDD strike indicator. It sounds like your boat has that same option also...you have a helluva fishing machine

aint my dog, all I have is an old hairball cat that isn't worth a hoot for fishin.........boy, I've sure managed to run this thread into the dirt.....sorry, I won't let it happen again..wouldn't want the managment gettin mad at me

On Gamefishin.com there is a gentleman that always fishes with his dog. Bogie absolutely goes nuts when a fish is hooked! Otherwise he quietly sits in the bow of the boat enjoying everything (it is an open sled). Bogie is a very large Chocolate Lab.

I don't think I'll add a dog as a fishing buddy though. I don't think my siamese furballs would like that too much! :roll:
 
Serge brakes!!! just reread the posts ... thanks Roger .. the only place i have a problem is in my own drive way ... what i'm doing isn't right i stick a bar just prier to the push rod on the cylinder i was checking trailers out at the launch site we must all have old trailers .. lol .. wc
