Radar arch mounted anchor light

I am looking for an anchor / all-around light that will mount to my radar arch as shown in this picture:

I saved this picture from another brat's album a few months ago and forgot who's it was. Anyway, I have the same radar arch which already has the "nipple" to mount the light. I just haven't been able to find a light that will fit.

Find someone with a good tube bender--hydraulic is best, but roller or even the conduit type will work. Bend a section of SS pipe and put the fittings on the ends--run the wires and you are in business...

One or more of the Aqua Signal lights will fit. The larger AS stern light will take the longer, LED bulbs as well. Those bulbs are cheaper and brighter than the shorter ones.

Regards,

Rob, if your arch already has a small platform for the anchor light base, just order a second base and wire it in parallel with the original light. The folks at Sportcraft ordered the base for me. I had pulled the wires when I installed the arch.

That way, you can use the original light at either location. I think the base was around $20.

Thanks for all the replies.

Not For Hire - I couldn't find an Aqua Signal light with a 90 degree bend in the pole.

The radar arch has a short tube / nipple coming out parallel to the waterline. The light pole I'm looking for goes over or in this tube. This way, the wiring is completely contained within the radar arch.

It's now looking like this may have been a custom light as indicated by lloyds' response and my lack of finding anything similar.

I'll either have some tubing bent as Bob suggests or make my own with a 90 degree stainless elbow fitting and some tubing.

Thanks again.

The Aqua Signal is just the light itself. I think they are about $20 from Defender.

That's our boat and the mount and light came w/ the boat/arch. I'd contact either the arch manufacturer, Tanner, or have one made by a SS fabricator near you in Portlandia. You just need it bent and a small mounting plate welded to the top to match the Aqua Signal foot print. It also has a hole/pin where they join so the light can be pivoted to lower [the towing height] if needed.

The 90 degree Elbow would work. West Marine sells a $19.99 anchor light on a 24" aluminum tubing. They also sell a LED telescoping version for $44.99. The 3/4" aluminum tubing would fit inside of 1" SS tube. It could be epoxied in place--and made to look as original. I have seen Aqua Signal lights with a 1" tube base--not sure how easy these are to find. Hella #002492201l is as cheap as $15 on line and it has a flat base easily adopted to a pole of 1" or 3/4" diameter. I don't know what the diameter of the nipple on the arch is--but you an adapt almost any size tubing to it with a coupler or sliding a tube inside or outside of the nipple. I would want most of the tubing to be SS, rather than Aluminum...

I misunderstood how much SS piping was already present. Thought you just needed the light. This company makes some fittings, but they are designed for their own pedestals.

I had a similar light on my radar arch, raised SS tube with bends to get the light above the radar. But mine did not pivot up and down so I removed it after a year or so and put the light on an 18 inch approx swing up, swing down tube designed for antennas. This gave me another several inches for bridge clearance. I do like the light on the arch to provide some light in the cockpit. My original aqua signal all around light did suck electricity when trolling. I replaced the bulb with an led.

Besides wouldn't you rather test bridge clearance with your $2000 radar than with your $50 light?

A great idea is to have the measured air draft (bridge clearance) for the boat on the trailer written on a card in the tow vehicle. We do this for the truck towing what ever boat it is, and the RV (which is higher than most C Doriys).

There are several GPS (Garmin, Tom Tom, Magellan, and Rand McNaully) that I know of, which allow you to set the length, width, and height of your vehicles--and then route according to those perimeters. These are either "Truck" Commercial or RV specific GPS units.

Also the Truckers Road Atlas has the clearance of most bridges on truck routes. Of course it is at the ramp or in a parking lot where it may not be recorded that you wil take a bit out of some part of the boat!....If you are not careful.

Just to close the loop on this in case it helps anyone else in the future, I put a call in to Tanner a few days ago. They called back this morning and will be making the light for me. Since they built the original arch, I didn't have to provide a thing except for a credit card.

I'm sure I could have built it myself a bit cheaper, but with so many boat projects in-flight, I need to pick my battles.

Thanks again for all the help.
