NO. Especially not with the new digital radars - they draw very minimal power. Even the older radars are not a big power draw.RHibbs":23an2m3o said:Do you need larger than. 90hp motor or extra large alternator to add Radar to a 22' Angler?

With the 2006 16 or so amp alternator output from a 90 hp Honda, there is still a positive inflow of current into the battery, with 3 chart plotters, a depth sounder and a 4 KW radar running. I have not broken down how much each uses The "book" says about 3 amps for the Garmin 24" dome radar. If you have the digital, Lowrance then 1.3 amps.

Thanks to all. My concerns regarding 90hp Merc and stock alternator being able to handle the additional eleictrical requirements of Installation of RADAR on 22' Angler have been alleviated.
