Well finally got my cockpit roof installed. Have not had it out yet but it looks as if it will do the job. Lot of room for hanging fishing poles and what ever else needs hanging. Working on a davit for pulling pots, any ideas shoot them my way.
Thanks Hooter :idea
Certainly a "clean" install and one of the more unusual "roofs" over the cockpit. Nicely done.
Can you tell us more about the how and why? Also wondering about the high Radar support? It looks as if you have some posts holding up the roof in the aft portion going to the cockpit floor.
Well first off I figured I needed some place to store the eight foot dingy while cruising. Then the radar needed a higher perch so it would shoot over the dingy. The stand will fold down after removing one bolt. Boat is still only nine and one half foot high while in down position.
It rains and snows alot down on the island so the new roof should take care of that problem nicely. The two vertical supports in the rear of the boat rest on brackets bolted to the low part of the splash well. I had them weld some u brackets on to hold the new bait cutting and work station that I am still designing. It will also hold my cooler when I want.I plan on storing my shrimp pots on top of the cabin between the new rails that are part of the roof. It is nice to have all this made from aluminum it is easy to add brackets and what ever I need later.
I am still trying to figure out some sort of davit?? I am always open to new ideas.
Thanks for the questions discussion is always nice.
Hello Chuck,, When I asked the people who built it they figured around 200 pounds. I have not run the boat on the scales yet. Right now it is pretty much winter up here and the boat is tucked in really good right now. I have not at the boat in the water since the installation. I have another friend that has a similar roof on his 22 footer and he cannot say enough about it. I am sure it will do what I am wanting. I will have to get on the web and figure out just how much things weight in at and try and figure it all out. I will work on this. I will try to keep everyone interested updated.
