Ranger Tug 27?

The Ranger Tug dealer I talked to last weekend at the Maine Boatbuilders Show said there's a new 27' model due out in April Anyone know anything more about it?

The Ranger 27 is supposed to be ready for sea trial in May. It will have the cockpit of the 25 SC and the cabin will be similar to a standard 25. It will be powered by a 180 HP Yanmar and weigh about 500 lbs. more than the 25.

Don't tell anybody though, its top secret. :smiled

So Russ is that what you will get or are you sticking with the R25 SC. That seems like a winner . I loved the cockpit of the SC I wonder how much more $$ it will be ?? The weight would be ? 6000lb maybe ?

Not the story I got. It is supposedly going to have the cabin of the R29 and cockpit of the R25, which would make it "just right" in my book. I and I would think we were both talking to the same source! Guess we will have to wait and see...

Some secret, huh?

Whoa! I heard it was Ranger 21 with a 6 foot swim platform.

Crazy, the rumors going around.

The base list on the R 25 SC is about 10k less than the R 25
We just happen to have one here at Wefings. Its is pretty nice for the fishermen, diver, outside cocktails type folks . You dont miss much in the way of creature comforts . I really like it .

there are many c-brats, including me, that haven't looked at pricing, so 10,000 more or less is a hypothetical. i understand figures like 150,000. 200,000. more or less. just thought i'd see what these puppys are selling for.

The Ranger 25 SC does start at $10,000 less than the standard 25' and the Ranger 27' will start around $20,000 more than the 25 SC. Because this will likely be our last boat we have committed to the new 27' and if the boat is the quality of all Rangers and has a satisfactory sea trial, we hope to take delivery in June. The main differences are: an additional 2' in length, 180 hp Yanmar, larger head with electric toilet, propane stove, Webasto forced air heat, built in microwave, and a small desk in the Storage/berth area. It is still very much a work in progress and there could be other additions or changes as the project continues. There is some tweaking of the cabin but overall its our understanding that the floor plan will be basically the same as the standard 25' with the 2' larger cockpit of the 25 SC.

It is very hard to part with our C-Dory but we are excited about the new boat.

Russ and Toni,

Oh, boy! Now the secret is really out! I had a hard time keeping my mouth shut on this one :D
We're so happy for you. Looking forward to seeing you and the new boat :thup :thup

Russ and Toni,

Very exciting! A question about the 27 - will it still be an 8.5' beam to allow for towing without permits?

Congrats on this next chapter!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Jeff is REALLY a smart guy! See how he got the buzz going on the R27 by dropping just little tidbits of information here and there? So I suppose that R-Matey and Sportner, as people who have actually plunked deposits down on various flavors of Rangers, should fill in the details from here! I may just need to sneak away for two hours and go down to the factory and take some pictures!

All prices base boat . 129k for R 25 SC , 139k for R 25, and a projected 159 k for the R 27 . Just add trailers and options ,food and clothes ,safety gear [which Ranger now offers as an option] and a destination.Or you could just sit in the driveway ,but what fun would that be ?Not a lot of tinkering necessary on these boats , pretty turn key .
Our new R 25 SC has a microwave , and the air conditioner is under vee berth and ducted . Same fridge and 2 burner stove . Generator and motor more isolated from cabin[haven't run it yet to see if there is a significant sound difference ] Battery Switches out side of quarter berth in portside genny/storage box .
R 27 will be 8'6" wide for trailer-ability.
There are today's tidbits from my perspective.BTW ,we accept C Dorys for trades with open arms.

hi marc,
thanks for putting real numbers to the boats. you never know who might read these post and get interested to the point of making a purchase. no doubt the boats look great and maybe some day i'll step up to the plate and order one. it's nice to know they are not out of my league.
best regards
pat

Russ and Toni,

You are making us jealous :)

We were already envious after talking with Ruth and Joe last weekend but the new 27 sounds like the best of all worlds.
Congratulations and hope to see you on the water this year so we can admire your new toy.
