Raymarine C Series -vs- E Series

Forgive me if this has been covered, but I'm trying to understand the differences between the C series and E series, other than price. Any help?

Adeline:

The E Series is new and offers video integration which the C Series does not. Video integration displays remote video sources from CCTV cameras, entertainment systems. It also exports navigation video to video displays or remote monitors. I installed the C-80 system with radar, chartplotter, and fishfinder on my boat last year and love it. In my opinion the E series is overkill for a small boat. If you haven't already check out the Raymarine site; raymarine.com. Looking forward to Spring. Happy boating. Best regards, Rollie/C-batical

i believe that the use of the E system is for larger boats.Ones that want to monitor their engine rooms. Or you could use it with camares to dock. not for small boats like ours.

I'm trying to figure this out, also.

There is a thread on here in the technical section regarding lack of future support for some chart systems.

I spoke briefly to a vendor about the chart system on the Raymarine C series and he said it's being phased out. He said that the new E series (more expensive by about $1K)is the way to go if future support is a concern.

He also said that while the Raymarine system is good, the Furuno is better and more trouble free. Also more expensive.

I don't have enough information yet to know if what he said is true, if he is bs'ing, or if I just mis-understood.

I'm just throwing it out there as something to look at.

I'd take that with a grain of salt - or a shot of single-malt.

Anyone who tells you one system is better than the other should be able to tell you why.

These are both good (really GOOD) systems -- had them both, sold them both as a dealer. The Furuno has always been a top dog in commercial application, but Raynav has been right up there too -- and the C-series Raynav is what is being installed right now on my 22. If I thought Furuno was better it would be on the boat.
