I am on the local fishing forum and another member there has a Raymarine s1000 still in the box for sale. I pm'd him and he ask his bottom price his response was $600. I'm sure $500 would buy it. If anyone is interested let me know. Here is part of his post.

"I have a Raymarine s1000 wireless autopilot that is still in the box. I got it in 2006 with intentions of putting it on my 23T cape horn and never have. I believe that these are around $1,000 new...."

That's a great buy. Buy it if it's still available. Look at the post made by Chubby Bunny last week on the pros and cons of the S1000. I concur with him.

For the price, I think it does a good job on our CD22.

Roger,

S1000 works fine straight out of the box on the RF which is similar weight size and power to you.

I had some issues with mine when I first got it. The dealer re-flashed the software and it has worked ever since with the default settings. I only use it in "point and shoot" mode. I've never tried it on a multi waypoint route. I have used it in various sea conditions and it has held course better than I do by hand :)

Mine works great right out of the box. One added bonus I didn't consider was fog. A couple of nights ago I spent the night on the hook behind Sanibel Island. These are very unfamiliar waters to me. When I awoke the next morning a fog had rolled in with about 500 foot visiabilty. I figured it would lift soon but it only got worse. I set a course on my chart plotter and sent it to the autopilot and cruised along at about 5 miles per hour tooting my horn every two minutes until I could find and area on the chart to pull out of the channel and anchor up. It made it much easier since all my attention could be dedicated to what was in front on me.

Just to follow up. I had a c-brat PM me and we offered the guy $500 for the s1000. He turned it down because he is going to donate some of the money too the Cancer Society. So he is firm at $600. He will take two checks one for $500 to him and one for $100 to cancer society. For the c-brat I checked with my local Raymarine dealer. He was offering the boat show price of $799 with full warranty. That's the option the c-brat is going.
