So, as we are looking to purchase a Tomcat, I have a question regarding resale values.

First is how often do used Tomcats come on the market? 1 or 2 a year? One every few years?

For those of you that buy new and have sold a Tomcat, is there a rough resale price percentage of the new purchase price?

Trying to figure out a very rough per year cost if we buy new for our estimated years of use. We have a chance a new Toncat and no used ones in sight so wondering if it is worth stretching the budget for the new boat.

We are healthy and hope to have 10 - 15 years before we have to think of cutting back on the boating

We bought our Tomcat new in 2010. We use it mainly for diving, around 50+ times per year. I've seen used Tomcats sell for more than we paid new.

I bought a new Tom Cat 255 in 2006 and sold it in 2011. I paid $118K including a float on trailer. I sold it, including a 2003 Ford Diestl Excursion for $79,000. Part of the issue was I was in Pensacola, and not many in Florida at that time. Early C Dory 22 (1993 which had been repowered. in 2004 for $25,000 and sold it in about 5 years for $25,000. It has had 2 repowers that I know of since then, and last I hear was purchased by a friend. I used that boat in Calif. and Utah (Lake Powell), it was kept with a van in Los Vegas at a friend's "ranch"--I could fly to Vegas, $20 taxi ride to the boat and the next day be boating on Lake Powell.

Wow. I did notice two Tomcats listed for sale, but they seem quite steep for 2006 and 2007 boats …
Seems like that observation might lead one toward buying new.
