Its been a few years since we looked at that video (and Dave has not posted in about 6 years??
In the meantime I have had the experience of falling overboard with an injury, and how difficult it really is to get back aboard. We also experimented with several other C Brats (not intentionally), and even with 3 people it was difficult.
Looking at it from the standpoint of an octogenarian, I think it would be impossible for a single elderly person to do the parbuckle technique without a davit. IN the video there are two strong young males, aboard. The MOB is in a survival suit (floatation) and has a life jacket on. The gunnel of the rescue boat is far wider than that of our C Dory. The 25 and 255 have railings on the top of the gunnel.

I remain convinced that a davit and life sling or similar device (lifting point on a life jacket with a crotch strap) is the best bet for a two persons crew. For one person, you better have a ladder. Although the stand on the permatrim, and raise the motor sounds good, it is not all that practical in real time use.
