I tend to shy away from products that are sold by people who don't ordinarily sell that stuff. I own Roybi electric power tools and they're now made in China, as is every other tool. Decent quality, but Roybi doesn't make gasoline engines, which is the critical part. I don't know where they get that engine, but I'd try to find out. I suppose Honda gets their engines made in China, but that's their main line of business. BMW is a step up, their engines are made in Taiwan.
Also Home Depot doesn't offer any service after purchase. You can return it, under their conditions, or if that's too late, it's all yours. And that charming lady at the service desk will tell you so.
I also noted that Home Depot sells a 1000 watt Honeywell generator. I don't know what Honeywell, Inc. does in the United States, but they sold their consumer business to Honeywell China. Separate corporation. So you're now dealing directly with China. That may be a positive thing.
