I'll add one more vote for the Tomcat. It's a great boat for fishing, it's fast and rides well in chop and provides reasonable fuel economy at cruise. You can fish 4. You can also sleep four inside if you put 3 in the forward berth. It's very roomy in there. You can really seat 4 at the dinette but you can seat 3 + one in the helm seat or one standing.
 
I have to add that the 28 tolly craft will do all the he is asking but you are not going to tow it.
 
Wow! I'm a C-Dory fan already and I haven't even ridden on one. Thanks for all of the great responses and bringing some things to light that I haven't considered.

I don't need to get anywhere fast, and last I checked, marina fuel prices haven't gotten any cheaper so I'm already more inclined to go with a Dory. I'm a huge fan of the catamaran style boats but the initial purchase price, even used, eliminates any style of catamaran. Some of the older ones fit the budget, but I'm trying to get away from older 2 strokes that most seem to come with of the years I could afford.

The Trophy 2359 looks great on paper, great layout and good hull design. Then I looked at one in person...coming from a high quality locally built boat, I don't think I'd be proud to own a 2359. Fit and finish was poor and there are some design flaws that I couldn't deal with.

I do like the SS22 a lot. I went fishing yesterday in wind 10-15mph, gust to 25 in my sled and tried to notice more the stability of my flat bottom boat and decided that the chop cutting V would be great, but once you're fishing, I'd enjoy the stability of a dory more. I normally spend 150+ hours trolling per year. I did manage to catch 1 chinook in front of Shilshole marina (100' of cable in 140' of water, glo/green hotspot flasher, glo/silver brads superbait with 42 inches of leader with a herring filet about an hour before the afternoon tide change if anyone cares).

Thank you all for your support and welcoming me into C-Brats. I'm going to continue looking around this site and asking questions.

Since you're a Wooldridge fan (we had one before the CD, loved it) have you seen their SS Pilothouse? Man, that thing is built to fish. Videos of them on Youtube.

As far as sleeping 4 in a C Dory 25--not going to be comfortable and not practical. The Tom Cat has a lot more sleeping room (one person for an aft with head into the area just foreword of the front dinette/navigators seat (we had a cushion made for this area, and there is over 6' 4" room), two can then sleep on the rest of the long queen, forward and one on the table. The Tom Cat will ride better and get better fuel consumption than any of the deep v's.

Yes, I have seen the Wooldridge pilothouse. I really like that boat but they don't exactly give them away. I'm actually personal friends with Glen and Grant Wooldridge, but STILL can't afford a pilothouse!

Since I'm still in the early research stages of this, I'm going to learn all I can about the Tomcat's. Seems like people really like them and it would work well for my uses.
