Sequim and boating areas

So I'm now living and working in sequim. Have kept the boat in Friday harbor but with having to reserve and take two ferries it no longer makes sense. Will be bringing the boat over here and would really like to talk with someone about good areas to fish and crab. Would be willing to buy a meal at the Hiway 101 diner for the info.

Hi Bris, Welcome to Sequim.

OK, I'm in. Oh... you want to talk fishing and crabbing. What I know about that would get me about one half on one french fry. :cry I'd be glad to meet another C-Brat in the area though. I know there are several around here who do fish so you may be getting some takers.

I have thought it might be fun to do a get together around a table some where here, even if we aren't on the boats. Some could talk fishing, some cruising and we could all talk boats.

Harvey definitely knows the area a lot better than I do, but I know some about fishing.

Mid channel bank outside Port Townsend is a really well known fishing spot that produces nice kings and silvers in the summer/fall, and good winter blackmouth.

There's good shrimping and crabbing over there as well.

There's some good resources like John Martinis' book "Saltwater Fishing Journal" that will pinpoint some good spots. Usually that's where you'll find everyone else fishing but typically there's a reason.

If you have the time and energy, hauling your boat to Sekiu or Neah Bay for a fishing trip is usually worth the trip.

If any one is interested in a Sequim gathering in the next few days, I am in town, until about the 16th. I don't really know much about fishing and crabbing here, since I launch here, and go elsewhere...

Hey Bris
We are in Sequim, and we do fish and we do crabbing. I would be happy to tell you what I know if you want to get together sometime. Our boat has been put away all winter. We plan to put it in the water tomorrow (if it is not to nasty out) and stay at Sequim Bay state park just for the night. If not Saturday, Sunday for sure. We need to test out some changes and new toys on a shakedown cruise.

How about Black Bare Diner on E. Washington on Monday Night. I'd do Sunday but it may be too soon for some and I may have company, but that would be OK if they came. Would 6PM work?

Right along the outside of Ediz Hook in PA is good for kings, the yellow PA buoy eastward to about the tip of the hook for silvers. This is about 5 miles out from the hook. Most folks troll for salmon, but plenty of guys mooch or jig.

Can't make it for dinner, but I'm sure you'll get some good gouge.

Welcome to the addiction,

Rick

dang, just seeing this now and we have a meeting tonight starting at 5:30 so we wont make it. we do some fishing and crabbing in the area, we could give you some starting points as well although sounds like some have already offered too.

Bris, By all means, women are welcome. Some of the nicest people I know are women. Sorry I didn't address that in the other reply.

JakeB, Sorry you missed this one. Maybe we need to plan another one down the road and a little farther out. maybe even a regular would be OK.

At the check in, just mention C-Dory group and we will be able to find each other.
