Shot in the Dark

Just though I would take a shot in the dark and see if there are any C-Brats going on a cruise starting next weekend. My wife, Deena won a cruise on Royal Caribbean, leaving Fort Lauderdale, FL on Nov 10, and cruising the western Caribbean, stopping at Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and Georgetown, Grand Cayman, returning to Fort Lauderdale on Nov 15. This will be on the Royal Caribbean ship “Enchantment of the Seas”. It has been a therapy goal for her and I am going because she will put up with my company and my constantly comparing that big ship to our 22 Cruiser. Sure would be a great Bulls Eye if there happened to be another C-Brat member along to share some of the fun with. That’s my shot in the dark, and now I’m holding my breath.

Warren, I appreciate your kind thoughts. I will indeed be missing the PNW, the C-Brats, and even my work. I will on the other hand try and have enough fun to bring back and share some, and If I see a C-Dory out there, you can bet it will be reported on the "C-Dory's Spotted...Thread"

The time :clock is getting closer, and I'm packing, but If I could do it without needing a new home address, I'd trade my ticket for a ticket to the Seattle boat stuff show, that Roger (Dreamer) posted about, coming up on the same dates. I really am looking forward to going, just hoping there might (im)possibly be another C-Brat or two on the "Enchantment". I've heard it is a very fine ship, It's just not a C-Dory! :sad

How about even a C-Dory looker, or a C-Brat Wannabe. I just want somebody around to talk C-Dory. I heard they won't let me up into the bridge, but wouldn't that be a fun comparison?
Still hoping for C-Dory company.

Harvey-

What you need to do is take a laptop computer along to log into this site!

The only problem with that , or with using their guest computer terminals on board the cruse ship, is the cost, but you might check it out and see how expensive it really is.

Too bad they don't feature free Wi-Fi on board!

Maybe you can link together through some Wi-Fi set up in the various ports? Probably would be possible in the U.S. ports, anyway!

Enjoy your cruise!

Joe. :teeth

Tell ya what I'm gonna do...today, and today only, I'll offer to buy a ticket to WA. so that you and I can go fish'n aboard the SleepyC, and you give your cruise ticket to my wife. We'll do a short meet and greet at the airport with the wives...send them on their way...then you'll get your wish...and I'll get some sea time in the PNW where the fish are huge! I'll even bring the beer!
Seriously, go, have fun, take your laptop for a daily C Dory fix.

Forget the laptop. Get up early, run around the promonade deck. look at the wake and then watch the sun come up. Then go eat until the sun goes down. As for the dark, get one of those inside cabins. You'll sleep like a baby in a sensory deprevation chamber. Enjoy. Oh, don't bring your watch either.

That's what is so nice about this site. Lots of good help. Great ideas.

Snal~ I like that, think we'd both be in trouble though, but your welcome anytime after Mar 1.
Joe, I haven't flown that much, and really don't relish taking the laptop, more for security and convienience, and cost of the hookup. Besides, If I was sitting at the LT, Deena would be running around having all the fun.
Marty, Check this post time. I like your idea of getting up early. I rarely miss a sunrise, even if it is sometimes just a brightening of the gray. I'll be out on deck. Post a picture of a sunrise if I can get that part figured out when I get back. Tried again this morning and still got stumped. maybe it will work this way

Edited once for format. Still no photo :sad

Harvey, put it in your album if you can and try a post from there.

If you still can't get it after that, one of us will do it for you and show you how!

It's been a few years since we've been on a cruise ship. The experience is SO different from being out on a small boat, that you'll soon forget the comparisons (unless you intend to put a bowling alley and movie theatre in your CD... if there's room after you put in the stage for the dancing girls and the swimming pool  ).

We'll be here when you get back, Harvey, anxious to hear about all the fun you had onboard. Be sure to climb the falls at Ocho Rios and consider going to Hell when you get to Grand Cayman. Eat too much, drink plenty, and enjoy having someone else do all the work and the clean up.

Happy cruising,
Jim B.

OK, the Gig's about to go. I was hoping, but instead, I learned again from this fine group. Have fun, Share, and always be helpful. You all are a great group, and I'm taking you all with me in my heart. I'll be back and eventually figure out the picture thing and maybe post a few here, especially if I see a C-Dory out there. You all be safe, have fun and remember, "Just Be Nice"

And Since I will be gone on Veterans Day. Here's a Salute to each and every one that served, or sent family. We are proud of you and we owe you. We may not all agree on the politics, but I think we can all agree on the principal. Freedom isn't free, It was bought with a price, and some of us have paid much more than others. Some will never know that price, but we all can be thankful. Thank a Vet, and pass it on.

Kind of late follow-up note.

I was in Port Townsend this afternoon, and saw the last two cruise ships of the season headed into the fog. Could hear the fog horns, long after I could see the ships.

As to my cruise: I took Marty's advice, got up early, ran the top deck about 10 times, then watched the day get light -- even saw a couple sunrises, enjoyed an early breakfast, and then spent the day, upon deck, watching where we were going.

It was worth it.
