Should of gotten a Bayliner?

Well, I hauled Minnie today after a continuous 7 months in the muddy Mississippi. Looks like the pimple blisters, in the below water green gel coat, are the same as when she went in this spring. I am just going to do nothing and see what develops. I'll report in the spring if any of them pop due to winter freezing but other than that she will go in again and I'll keep you posted.

Just had the chance to read this thread. Wanted to share my experience again about the VS-721 wax. Might be excellent in fresh water but I tried to use it on our TC 255 last Spring here on the Chesapeake and had disastrous results.

I was trying to avoid doing bottom paint, so it seemed like a wonderful alternative based on the claims by Aurora and some of their customers... I followed the directions carefully, removed the factory mold wax etc. Used the Aurora Boat Scrub and Boat Clean as directed by the factory. I spoke to the president over the phone before I applied it. He is extremely nice and I believe quite honest (he answered the 800 number personally on a Sunday afternoon). I ran the boat about every other day for 3 weeks, since they recommend frequent use to prevent any growth from attaching. I do like that maintenance plan. "Honey, gotta go clean the hull." (go fishing)

3 weeks later I realized I was drastically losing top end speed. Pulled the boat out and found thousands and thousands of barnacles. Contacted the pres again by e-mail (sent pictures) who replied that they had never seen such a failure in 16 years of selling the stuff (I think that's what he said). So they refunded all my money and I spent the next 3 weeks under the boat removing the barnacles. I wanted to put the boat back in the water and keel haul someone, maybe myself, for thinking that this stuff would work in funky, estuary type water like our creek off the Piankatank river.

One thing I can say for it, though. It did help the TomCat slide off the bunks for a much easier launch. It makes for an extremeley slick hull and the president cautioned me that it can cause pre-mature launching if your boat is not well secured on the trailer.

So I would caution anyone who is thinking of using it for any length of time in salt water. But again, it might be great in fresh.

Anyone else try it in fresh or salt?
