Side sliding window handle/lock

Pulling out of the dock area, the Admiral said she was cold, so I went to close the starboard side sliding window using the handle/lock. As I pushed forward the handle/lock came off and slipped in to the drink before I could catch it. Okay, so where do I get a replacement? Also what type and brand glue do I use to secure the new handle/lock? Thank you in advance for your time and information.

One of my window locks feels a tad loose. So now when I shut the window, I push from the back of the glass and only use the handle for the last inch. Raises the odds in my favour that it will not fall over the side. Nice to know that Sea Glaze are there for us if needed.

Martin.

This is really a problem for our type of boats. I would consider one of the rear view mirror adhesive kits as my first choice for a loose or replacement window handle. The other possibility is epoxy or 5200. All of them require very clean glass and inside of the handle.

Same thing happened to me. Diamond Glaze sent a new one. I put it on with a small piece of double sided tape jammed in between the inside of the window and the inside of the handle.

I find that the rear view mirror adhesives you get from the car parts store to be marginal. After less than a year the mirror will usually fall off again. The glass and the mirror attach plate have to be very clean and primed before the adhesive is applied. I have had better luck with the stuff from the car dealer.

I would think that the mirror adhesive is not really meant for something that has a good force regularly applied to it.

One of my window locks recently popped loose on the inside surface. The outer surface is still bonded, but I expect that it will come off pretty soon.
