Site outage this morning

Sorry, folks - our provider had a "power issue" this morning, that took out most of the servers in their data center. Looks like we're back in good shape after a 7 hour outage.

Such things should never happen, given the redundant systems and backup generator power they heavily advertise...but it did.
 
And those things do happen. Glad you were able to recover. Obviously you believed this can happen and took steps to protect yourself (and us)

Now, if someone could mention to Toyota that these things do happen with computers, AND it would be nice if they have a real time recovery plan in their computer, that would be another step forward.

Not having the site this morning was a great reminder of how much this site means to me. Whew! glad its back. Thanks Bill and Mike...again.
 
Is there any way to capture the number of attempts that were made to reach the site while it was down? Whatever the number, I contributed many of them. This place should be "scheduled" as a controlled substance!
 
Did you know Bill has a Twitter? There were ten folks who got word of the outage because they follow @cbrats on Twitter (http://twitter.com/cbrats). The only thing the account is used for is to share info on those rare occasions when the C-Brat site isn't working. One of us will get the info on there as soon as there is info that needs to be on there, and it can save some frustration if you follow @cbrats on Twitter. If you get real nerdy about it and recieve updates from the Twit on a mobile phone, you will be among the first to know when things happen. Of course we were a little late with the news today, but Bill got it on there!

I remember back when I was a kid we didn't have a Twitter. At least not an indoor one.

Jeeze - when I was a kid we couldn't afford ANY kind of a twitter. Didn't have that much money. We could only afford 4/7 of that (a Twit). Worse yet, we'd have to take turns to be it.
 
I hope you guys have worked out, or will work out, a plan for continuing the website when you no longer can run it. It is bigger than any two guys now, as the above posts make abundantly clear!

Relax, Warren - one of the advantages of my having a bunch of ol' farts for friends, is I'll outlast 'em. :mrgreen:

Now...iffin' the kids start showing up here in droves, we'll let them pick their own successor to the Poob throne. I'll just make sure that as part of the deal in turning over the keys, they provide Mike and me a couple pretty young thangs to stop by for our weekly sponge baths. :shock:

DEALING WITH ALL THE THINGS THAT BILL AND MIKE DO FOR THE SITE IS MUCH APPRECIATED WHAT THEY DO TO KEEP THINGS FUNCTIONING IS AT TIMES REAL TIME EATER FOR THEM THANKS AGAIN BILL.

I'm one of the ones, hundreds, thousands that tried to get on, and didn't. Thought it was on our end. C-Brats site --- never goes down, Bill and Mike are just too good, and Yep they are :thup :thup Thanks again guys.

Glad to be back and getting my fix again.
