SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

I know this is what you did today, and not yesterday, but.....

Yesterday was awesome spring weather and I put the boat in to explore Virginia's inside passage yesterday. It was the first time I have ventured out there. Went out to Little Cobb Island and watched the birds and surf, and then explored Spidercrab Bay, how beautiful. The ospreys are starting to nest, the water is up to about 55 degrees, and you could easily spend hours just crusing along poking inbetween the marsh grass beds. I am so looking forward to more warm weather.
 
Launched the new to us 22 at Kalama and cruised down to Cathlamett for an overnight on sunday. Then off to astoria for monday for lunch. Got to walk the waterfront in the sunshine. A bit of a rarity this time of year up there. Then the 60 miles back upriver to Kalama and off to home. Should have stayed home and cleaned and polished but that doesn't raise the satisfaction index that much. There were a ton of fishermen out for springers but not many fish. Between gillnetters and sea lions the run is experiencing some resistance.
 
I didn't do them all today, but I did finish up this short list of annoyance remedies:

1) Remounted switch for anchor rode line counter so the smaller magnet I glued on the gypsy last year will flag it. :thup :thup :thup

2) Installed and hooked up replacement video camera in the rode locker so I can see gypsy jams coming before they happen. Camera displays on big Garmin. Last camera was cheapo and lasted 2 years. New camera was midrange price so should last longer, I hope. Better picture, anyway. :thup :thup :thup

3) Replaced actuator for starboard trim tab. Last one got water inside and wasted the motor. Stayed with the Lencos because the new actuator was $141 delivered, easy to install, and adequate now that I have the PermaTrim figured out. I still prefer the Bennett hydraulics, but they would be several hundred bucks and a good deal of time to install. :thup :thdown :thup

4) New fuel lines from filters to motors and new connectors. :thup :thup

5) Bleached, flushed, and replaced filter elements for the fresh water system. :thup :thup

6) Bleached and cleaned the waste holding tank. :thup

7) Put off the washing and waxing again. :thdown
 
Tyboo, You were very busy! I need to replace one actuator on my Lencos. Where did you purchase your new one? About how long did it take to ship?
I would like to get this done when I pull the boat week after next. Thanks

I didn't do anything with the boat today, but I should have! Here's a phone camera shot looking west over the Columbia River from the interstate bridge out of Astoria this evening. We were headed to Long Beach for Tiff's softball game. I'm on vacation next week for the kids' spring break. I have lots to do, but the boat should float by week's end.

Our plan for today is to take the plastic tarp off C for Two. Way early by historical Maine standards, but spring seems to have arrived early. Supposed to get over 60 degrees today...hard to believe it's March.

The water won't be flat in the Tropical Tip today - it's spring break, the area is up to its eyeballs in college kids on the beach, and the wind is supposed to be out of the SSE @ 20-25 with higher gusts. There will be a lot of sand blowing in the beer on the beach today. :wink:

On the bright side, the high is supposed to be in the upper 70s and the dolphins said to tell you "Hi!" 8)

Jim, I am a bit concerned about you......."it's spring break" and you are out watching FD dolphins and not out walking amongst the college kids on the beach. :mrgreen:

Coulda been a career of photographing pretty young things. I really enjoy a good walk on the beach, but don't care to wade through the throngs of screaming drunk kids. There is 35 miles of beautiful walking beach on SPI, and the kids are concentrated in two general areas. Except for the bumper to bumper car traffic, it's pretty easy to avoid them.

Go to the store or Post Office in the mornings... they are hung over and still in their hotel rooms (or sleeping face down in the sand dunes) until noon. By then, we are on the boat or our deck, enjoying the nice weather. Joan and I both chuckled today at the store... the group of 4 guys in front of us had a grocery cart with a half dozen frozen pizzas and 6 cases of beer! :roll: Balanced diet? :mrgreen:

As far as "the leash"... not necessary. Either way.
Me: "I saw you looking at the buff guy on the beach."
Joan: "I don't want some buff, sexy guy, Honey, I want you."

It's an old joke, but I'm an old guy. I still think it's funny. Yeah, a committee of one.

One last thought about spring break, Dave: besides the traffic, these kids make a mess of the beach and the roads. It takes time and money to clean up after them. Their Mommas shoulda taught them better. Fortunately, it's an important shot in the arm for our local economy. But, I still don't want to be out and about in the midst of 'em.

I understand that during your 3 weeks of summer weather, this would be a feast for the eyes; we have bikini weather almost all year 'round. 8)

WHAT A DAY! 8) Instead of actually boating though, I did some long needed projects. Glued up some wood strips with 5200 and every clamp, shower curtain rod and tape I had that would work. I'll mount the curtain tracks once I get back. I'm off to Honolulu again; more issues with my elderly parents to attend to. I also installed the antenna for the new VHF and a new reading light for Meredith in the V-berth.
 
Brought the boat home from storage for spring cleaning and maintenance.
Ordered a new prop- will post numbers when it is back in the water.
The 3-blade 13.75"X13 prop had a WOT of 6340 with a speed of 24.4 kt and fuel consumption of 10.3 gph / 2.8 mpg.
 
We planned to dive from No Pressure for the first time today. We've been sick for nearly two months and the ocean has been a mess, but it was flat today. We headed to the wreck of the Star of Scotland off Santa Monica. Our friends arrived first and reported poor visibility on the wreck, so we decided to wait another week. It was still fun being out on the ocean, stopping to watch dolphins, sea lions and pelicans enjoying a feast of baitfish.
