SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Mark,

I think I've finally found someone who hates the perpetual rain and gray skies more than me. Of course, it's taken me 40 years to fully appreciate the beautiful (albeit short) summers we have here. Look on the bright side buddy. It's only 5 weeks until winter solstice when the days start getting longer. Don't you love it up here in the great PNW!!! :D

From a transplant from sunny California,

Peter

sunshine is over rated. I mean look at me, I spent two weeks in maui and now its going to take months to get rid of this dam tan. do you know how hard it is to keep my body a nice pasty white color??? now Iam three different shades of brown. neck and arms are dark, legs are two different shades of light brown. and then my upper shoulders are dark brown with freckles!!! my god its a mess.

Drained the tank, and got a bit of RV antifreeze in the water system.

Although not needed for the boat, I did find an antifreeze pump that works great on RVs. Just connect the pump to the fresh water intake, put the other end in a jug of antifreeze, and pump until you see the a-f coming out of each of the faucets, plus the toilet.

Yesterday, I trailered "Sea Shift" up to Bellingham and after launching her, I moored up on P dock, so I could spend the afternoon and evening with our daughter Jessica who is a student at WWU. Fantastic waterfront or should I say "on the water" accommodations for $12 a night. I'd just plugged in the shore power and got "Sea Shift" all "ship shape" for my nights' stay when Jess showed up with a a hot lunch she had prepared of chicken breasts stuffed with asparagus and cream cheese accompanied with cheesy mashed potatoes. (Quite a treat!). She then drove me to Fairhaven where we explored the quaint shops, wineries, tea houses and book stores. Then we had a father/daughter dinner at Anthony's overlooking the marina with a view of a couple of nearby vessels that were adorned in Christmas lights in the shape of Christmas trees and candy canes.
Jess then returned to her apartment and after I enjoyed a hot buttered rum at the Bayside, I returned to my room on the water for a pleasant night's sleep.
This morning I joined fellow C-Brats at the Bayside Cafe to celebrate Roger's (Sensei) birthday. (See the "Its Rogers (Sensei's) Birthday thread).
I'm now back at home with "Sea Shift" all washed and put away in the shop. A very enjoyable 30 hours of pleasure time!

Got the lower unit oil changed, the 10 micron filter changed, and the engine fuel filter changed. Went to do the engine oil and discovered I bought the wrong (aftermarket) oil filter. I will go and buy the right Yamaha filter on Monday and give the parts guy at West Marine his aftermarket junk back. Lesson learned.

BTW. I also learned that if you have the part number you can probably buy it on Amazon.com! They seem to have everything now. I found I can buy all my filters OEM from there. It is helpful since the nearest dealer for me is a hike.

Ran up to my TomCat yesterday and took some measurements to work on new storage for it. Also did some test fitting of some galley counter top storage devices. I bamboo box designed to hold DVD's fit's nicely behind the stove. It will have some additional boxes installed within it to hold utensils etc. in place. Behind the sink, I found a simple plastic box to hold soap, sponges etc. I'll attach the DVD box to the teak trim behind with a couple of wood screws. The plastic box will just have some strips starboard siliconed down to keep it from sliding around. The cutting board on the sink is rubberized on one side and doesn't slide around at all.

I attached a stainless steel towel rack to one of the galley cabinet doors. It was about $11 at Fred Meyers.

Took C-Run out on a wonderful winter cruise. An incredible day on the water. No wind, some sunshine, and then some heavy rain, but still not a breath of wind.

Just did a little compounding and waxing yesterday and today it was mild in the 50's which is cold for naples fl. I had the wallas going so it was quite toasty got to do the top and the cockpit I have to pull the boat out and do the sides maybe next week ?

Im hoping some C-brats come down this winter to florida and we can do some cruising Jim

Not what we did but what we are planning to do!

Launch at 40th Street in Bellevue tomorrow morning for an overnighter on the hook in Andrews Bay tomorrow night to give the new Webasto a good test! Could be scrubbed if the winds are too high, but right now looking good! Peter or Jan (or anybody in the neighborhood) - so if you see a C-Dory out there, come on down!

David is closing in on finishing his Webasto install, and is talking about a winter cruise to Sucia - I really like that idea.

P & P,

We'll be down in Lacy most of Saturday night but might see you if you're there Sunday am. Of course, our dinghy's with the boat up at Twin Bridges. :sad

Well, weekend is off anyway. We have 30 mpg gusts here, NOAA says 10-20 knot winds for Western Washington inland waters, and it just frickey-dickey started snowing here...

Yeah, almost froze to death on our walk this morning......55 degrees and wind was gusting to 12.

Yesterday morning I launched in Everett and had a nice cruise to Kingston. After securing "Sea Shift" in a slip with shorepower, I turned off the Wallas and turned on the electric heater to keep the cabin warm. Did a walk about town (doesn't take much time in a small town) returned to the boat to read and snack on smoked oysters, cheese and crackers. Later in the evening, I walked past the Christmas Lights that still light up the marina park and proceeded up to the Drifter for Fish and Chips, then back to the boat for more reading. This morning with small craft advisory warnings of increasing winds, I decided it was time to head back to Everett. In spite of the increasing winds and tossed seas, it wasn't a terrible cruise back. It was nice to experience a bit warmer weather, but I was surprised to still find snow at home and further surprised to learn that it had snowed at home last night. The only vessels I encountered on the water both days were ferry boats and a freighter. It is so relaxing to get out on the water in the winter with the warmth and security of a C-Dory.
