SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

worked on the boat some more. got the cabin door installed and finished the twenty little things that needed to be done. I repainted the aft cabin wall again.I had spent a lot of time and effort spray painting the wall before installing it. It was white , in fact it was so white it hurt to look at it. I found a off white that i applied with a roller to the starboard side and in the end liked to better. Both the color and the texture of the rolled on paint. So today I went back and painted the port wall the same off white, looks good. I will do another coat in the morning before work. I also replaced the racon fuel filter at the aft of the boat. the inside is all done for now and I only have the fuel gage cover and the fuel line covers to finish. then trim tabs and I should be done. maybe...

Whale watching today west of Everett with Kim.

Found 1 gray whale working the bottom on the SE tip of the sandbar off Hat Island. His/her pattern was blow 3 times and dive in 75-100 feet of water and feed for 8 minutes and then repeat.

We ran over to Langley and walked the town, had ice cream at Mike's Place and lazed about the boat in the marina for awhile in the sun (Finally!!). Cruised back to Everett in mill pond conditions.

Beautiful day, doing what C-Brats love to do.

Installed the first two of four new brakes, rotors, calipers, the whole works. And in the process discovered that there has not been an inner pad on one of the wheels. The outside of the rotor is toast (that plus too much rust is why we are putting new brakes on) but the inside, except for rust has never been touched. Cannot imagine how that happened. it'll be interesting to see how the trailer works with actual brakes!!

We are trying to think of a good place to store our new portable ice maker onboard! It is about an 18" cube, under the dinette is the most likely spot for while we are running. We have tried it out a couple of times at home, it works great! Going to be wonderful at Lake Powell! It starts making ice cubes in about 6-8 minutes (honest) and in 20 minutes there is enough for a couple of sundowners, maybe more!

We're getting as bad as the "Tuggers". I told someone to put their icemaker right behind the hot tub! Or near the wine cooler!

Is it 12V Pat?

Launched my 22 at Washington Park yesterday afternoon (enjoying the sun, too) and drove it around to Skyline, where I discovered that the slip adjoining mine is now occupied by the Tom Cat "Pipe Dream". I believe it is owned by a local plumbing supply company guy as I have seen the boat parked in their yard in Mt. Vernon (I don't believe the owner is online here). So when I get my Tom Cat in the water we will have a Tom Cat Alley in Skyline.

Nope, the data plates says 115V, 1.9 amp ice making, 2.7 amp ice harvesting (not sure what that means). Anyway, a regular AC appliance, going to run the Honda 2000i to make those ice cubes! Always looking for a good reason to run the generator beside baking corn bread in the toaster oven!

No wine cooler or hot tub!

It's all perspective. We make the space available for what is most important. I seem to recall Pat saying to me, "You just couldn't stand the idea of not having a litter box onboard."

Cheers! :cocktail :beer

Best wishes,
Jim

PLEASE, don't ever tell Meredith you travel w/ a cat!!!
Now I know what book I'm getting you for Christmas!

Warren

I seem to recall a book that is about not just traveling with a cat, but traveling on a C-Dory with a cat. Great for gift-giving occasions for people who love animals, travel, humor, and life.

Highly recommended by the author.

Today, I got up reasonably early and finished up the last work I really had to due to get the boat in the water. I disassembled a PVC pipe frame that I made to hold a tarp up over the cockpit during the winter so I could work on the boat more easily. Then I reattached the port side fuel filter (I took it off awhile ago when I drilled a new hole through the transom to route the cable from the transducer for the depth sounder. Then I attached the transducer to a piece of starboard that I attached earlier. I routed the cable and used a couple of cable clamps to hold in in place on the starboard piece and on the transom (it's important to clamp the cable in case the transducer gets knocked off at speed -otherwise I can swing up and potentially bonk someone in the cockpit).
Then I rinsed the fresh water system with about 3x30 gals of water to get rid of the RV antifreeze I added to it prior to winter. I scrubbed out the inside of the tank with a brush. A lot of flocculant gunk was in there and after scrubbing, it promptly clogged up the strainer going to the pump so I cleaned that out. Then some bleach in the tank and a few more rinses with fresh water.

Finally, I hooked the boat up to the truck for a great afternoon/evening on the water. We launched at Everett (after fighting through a 1.5 hour traffic jam to get there) around 2:30 and ran down to Eagle Harbor on Bainbridge Island. Walked into town, did a wine tasting at Eleven winery and had dinner at Hitchcock. Then we cruised back up to Everett and came home. It was a beautiful day out, sunny and temps near 70F. The water was flat when we went out but by the time we returned, the wind started coming out of the WNW creating a 1-2 ft chop. Overall, it was a great day.

...Everett (after fighting through a 1.5 hour traffic jam to get there) around 2:30...

I was there w/ you, although I didn't see you. That traffic was horrendous. Took me twice as long to get home from work :x :amgry , which sucked 'cause the weather was so nice. 8)

Installed the Scotty base for the pot puller backed by a piece of 1/2" Starboard. I mounted it just in front of the rail on the port side; that rail sure makes mounting options on a 25' tough/limited. :| It's nice and solid though and the puller works...I'm ready for shrimping! :thup
