SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Thanks for the mention. I actually had that one with me on my summer trip up on the island. The mix of history and geography was what was the most interesting part of that one for me. Seems like that one was not as easy a read as 'Old Glory" is.

Sorry I muffed up your quote above. Anyway, I agree on your review. I got a little bogged down in the long history sections on Passage to Juneau. Not that I don't like history but somehow I found myself just wanting to get back to the (current day) story. Old Glory is more like that. Plus, I find that, all else being equal, the smaller the boat the more I enjoy the read. IIRC he has a Boston Whaler in Old Glory (vs. a medium sized ketch on the Inside Passage). Also I think he's in a darker stage of life during the Inside Passage book.
 
C-GLORY is in her slip, B-28, in Oak Harbor Marina! Sea Trial in the rain was great! My skills are lacking, but they will improve with practice. Took a second try to get her in the the slip. At least I didn't hit anything! :)

Glad to hear you got the boat home and wet. You're going to have plenty of time to practice. It's like flying; if every launch is followed by an equally successful landing, you're home free. One out, one back and everyone walks off the dock, its all good. The rust will polish.

Just know that these flat bottom boats are not the easiest to pilot into a slip or onto a trailer at slow speed. Between wind and current they seem to have a mind if their own. You'll get used to it.

The advice I was given when I got the boat was don't go faster in the marina than I was wanting to crash into the dock. High currents and winds are hard.
 
My usual comment on a successful beach retreive in the ocean surf is................nobody died, nobody wet.

Take notice of and advantage of any slight breeze when docking. Ignoring it will get you in trouble.

using the fender step was great on my 22' CD but the gunnel on my 26' ProAngler CD is 7' above the ground. This old retired guy is not up to that leg swing. An 8' step ladder is the answer.
 
7', eh? Yeah, that's a bit much, retired or not!

The cleaning went well. Then I fed my cell phone to the fish. Hope they don't use too many minutes! :)

There will be no practice today either. The wind is howling like a banshee!
 
Sorry about that phone. More sorry, no practice to day, but you can still spend time on the boat and it is on the water..... how cool is that :?: 8)

Got a new phone; 4 times the storage space and twice the camera! The wind has died down, but I already spent time at the boat taking inventory, etc. Found some brand new, in the package, dock lines tucked down into one of the lockers! No shore power cord though, just an adapter and a regular extension cord. I'll stop and pick one up tomorrow. Probably a 30 amp, 50'? What do you think? Still need to wax the motors. Probably Tuesday.
 
Depending on what you want to run on the shore power, you may have what you need. PM sent.

I have roof top air and use a electric space heater the other part of the year and use a 30A power cord.

Just for the record. :mrgreen: Yesterday, Christmas day, Madison, WI, no snow or ice. Temp 33. Took the boat out just to say I boated on Christmas Day here. Water temp was 37. It's been a relatively warm start to our winter here. Although that might end this week. (But hope not!) Heater (Webasto) worked great. With a window open part way to keep the windows from fogging up, I had 60 degrees in the cabin. (And only had the heater set about a quarter the way on the dial.) So anyway, Merry Christmas! :xlol Colby
 
Took a quick trip to Winslow on Bainbridge Island, about 13 miles. Fairly nice weather.
 
First time out since the sea trial! YIPPEE!!!
 
Finished a goal set for 2015. Have the boat out at least once each month of the year. Port Townsend to Mystery Bay State Park. Not too cold 40ish but with a stiff breeze in the 15kn range. The Wallas worked fine and there were a few other boats out -- a very few. Good to see here that there were some other C-Dorys in the water too.
