SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

We left Everett yesterday afternoon for a night @ Langley. While we're at the fuel dock I hear a horn honk. :? Look up and see Dave S (Sea Shift) cruising in just to say "HI!" He was flying solo on his way back from Seattle. Always good to see Dave. We're currently between Hat and the south point of Camano waiting to check a crab pot. Have nine keepers on board so this is the last pot of the day. Meredith's up front taking a nap; seems I got her up a little early. But hey, the dungy season STARTED @ 0700 and our first pot splashed at 0708!

Mark, you are as bad as Dave. Here you are in our back yard (stealing our crabs  )

We left Oak Harbor at 0659 and splashed our pots at Greenbank (whidbey).
Currently moored in Holmes Harbor waiting to pull later tonight.

Wish we had known you were in Langley last night as we live just up the road in Freeland.

My first day of retirement and it feels just like a Saturday :D

Jim,
I located several pictures on line that show the Bell Harbor Marina. One of them shows the marina with the city in the background in the evening. However, due to my computer illiteracy, I'm unable to transfer it to share with my fellow C-Brats the atmosphere that it depicts.
I always enjoy viewing the Columbia Tower as in 1999, I rappelled from the top of it. (Just one week prior to my Columbia Tower adventure, we received delivery of our 16' C-Dory from the original factory in Kent and I remember looking down at Bell Harbor Marina from the roof of the Columbia Tower).

That is such a great area down there. I lived aboard for almost ten years up around the corner at Elliott Bay Marina. In the evening after work I would ride my bike down to Bell Harbor and get super fish and chips from the take out window and a beer and sit and watch the people. And the festivals at the waterfront park were interesting to say the least, especially the hemp festival and the naked bike rides. (spectator, not participant, didn't want to ruin it for anyone)

Congratulations Merv, Well deserved, and couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

I filled the tanks on SleepyC after the trip to Mystery Bay, and Port Townsend for the Safety Boat gig. Not bad, 20 gallons for the weekend with an average fuel burn of l.54 gal per hour. 2 nights out, l3 hours run time, 2 days with great friends, some community service time and good weather on the water. Priceless.

Merv, CONGRATULATIONS on your retirement. Six Saturdays a week, if you so desire. Keep us posted! :thup :thup :D

Jim,
Thanks for posting that picture. That way other C-Brats across the country can see what we are talking about.

Merv,
Congratulations on the retirement! Enjoy all those Saturdays.

Mark,
It was good to see you and Meredith at the dock. Enjoy the crab!

Dave,

Thanks. The only bad bit so far was filling the boat.. needed 60 gallons :cry :cry :disgust

I must be doing somenthing wrong. I started at 0500 today, did 2 hrs on the boat, cooked for 8 people at lunch, retrieved the truck from Oak Harbor and still have to go pull pots before supper.
And I havn't done a darned thing off my "Honey-do" list

I think I need lessons in this retirement thing. Work was easy.

Merv

Congratulations Merv! :cocktail It's always nice to hear of deserving people who can finally "pull the pin". Someday...

We got back after catching our limit, cleaned the boat and the crabs...got everything put away for the upcoming work week. :x Just cleaned up the kitchen and I'm full...of crab. It was a little drizzly this morning, but we were snug and dry in the cabin while the crab pots soaked. M and I had a great little get-a-way on the water. Nice dinner at a Greek/Mediteranean restaurant last night @ Langley...a movie and drinks on the boat...caught our limit...doesn't get much better.

Mark,

Thanks.

We just got back. 6 Crab to 7" across in 2 pots. Can't tell you where or someone would shoot me

Got 4 down for tonight.

Next time call us and we will either join you or do better home cooked. (depends what comes out of the garden/ocean/farm)

Spent the weekend at Westport. Dropped a couple crab pots in the harbor Saturday and let them soak a couple hours while we walked around town. Went back and found full pots. NOTE: read the regs before pulling; you'll discover that the legal size is 6" in that area, not 6.25" as in Puget Sound. Mistakenly threw back 5 keepers. :( Live and learn.

Crossed the bar at 0600 Sunday morning and headed due West about 15 miles. Fished the 250' line for a few hours. Headed back in with 3 nice kings in the boat. Seas were a little snotty and bumpy, but the boat handles it so well I felt comfortable.

Well done Rick (except for throwing back the crab), any size to the Kings?

We are in Puget Sound and north this month but will be fishing our home port most of next month. Let me know if you get down our way

Are you going to make the Bellingham gathering?

Out fishing in the dory today with my 1st mate and good friends.
I caught and landed an 86 LB halibut in 80' of water in the Cook Inlet. WE also had 7 others in the box.

A great day. What can be better??????

Fished out on Green Bay this weekend. Had 20-25 knot winds both days and was able to troll with confidence the entire time. It's funny , I sea trialed the boat on an especially windy day (so I could be sure it would handle the rough water conditions that are prevalent here) and the guy that had the boat said "you wouldn't really fish in conditions like this? Would you?" At the time I just smiled and said no. I was always bummed when I'd finally get to the weekend only to have the wind blowing hard, sitting on shore wishing I had a bigger boat. Now I'm the proud owner of the biggest little boat on the bay! Got to love those C-Dory days!! P.S. Caught 15, Kings, cohos and brown trout while most of my buddies were sitting on shore complaining it was too rough to fish! :wink

Two of the kings were about 18#, the other about 12#.

I'll be sure and let you know if I'm headed out the Big C. I'll need a local guide. ;) What are you doing for fishing out there now? Find a 22 Angler, or are you using the tug?

not a bay liner?/ say it aint so :embarrased

some of the bay liners make great fishing boats and i aint to proud to fish out of one as their are no photos.

if we see you up this way we can leave the girls on the tug and take mine fishing.

Sitting off Whidbey; Stevie Ray Vaughn on the stereo, a cold beer in hand, burger cooking on the grill, water lapping at the hull, the sun is as warm as Hawai'i and my two pots are soaking.

Doesn't get much better. 8) : :beer

Heading up the Potomac this afternoon to overnight at Cobb Island, about 40 miles up. Then we'll head back down tomorrow and drop the hook in some river/creek for Sat night. Sure hope it cools off a little, not as bad as it has been but kinda uncomfortable!
