SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

They don't need a postal code everyone knows where the nice lady lives. Mine usually come back however marked. "sorry, we are not amused". G

I spent the day cleaning baby barnacles off Carpy's bottom, even waxed it! I spent about two weeks in salt water on our recent trip to Florida. It wad the first time Carpy had been in the nasty salt in her 10 years. The barnacles were very small, like grains of sand with a few bigger ones. I was suprised how quickly they established. Not the most pleasant day with the boat, it ranks with my recent trailer brake rehab.
We'll be back on the water soon.

Well, call me fickle. After keeping the boat near us in Seattle in wet moorage last summer, we've decided to return back to our standby, Twin Bridges Marina near Anacortes. The people at Twin Bridges have always treated us well plus the boat stays nice and dry inside. For those not familiar with these waters, Anacortes is the gateway to the San Juan's. We decided we really missed cruising the SJ's and Canada last summer and want to do more of it this summer.

I also had the boat detailed professionally, a deep cleaning plus polish and wax. Ironically the work was done by the former QC Manager at C-Dory during the Reynold's years. Adam was very excited at the opportunity to work on a C-Dory again. I'm pretty sure he worked on C-Dancer the first couple of years when the Auburn factory still did service work. They did a great job so if any one in the greater Seattle area is interested in having your boat detailed, gel coat repairs or mechanical work, give Adam a call at Seattle Mobile Marine. Although they have a shop on Lake Union near Ivar's Salmon House, they started out as a mobile service, driving to you to get the work done and a lot of their work is still of the mobile variety.

Lastly, once the boat got put on the work stand at TB, I cleaned the bottom paint of the green scum residue leftover from being stored in the water. It doesn't look bad. Plus I installed an Airmar P-66 transducer. Given the fact that I did a few hours of work on the boat, trailered the boat 80 miles up and then trailered the trailer back to Seattle another 80 miles, no wonder I'm tired. Whew!

Well last week end I hooked up the water to the motors and started them for the first time in 7 month. both motors started on the first try. I did not treat the gas but I did drain the lines and the motors before parking the boat.

I was going to clean a little but as soon as I started the motor three people called me. I have not had a day off in 8 weeks and counting. I need to go fish.

Peter and Tom, I was really surprised that I did not see either of you out on the water yesterday for the Anacortes Fishing Derby. I was on a 40 footer doing a CGAUX patrol during the derby. I did see one C-Dory heading towards Anacortes on Rosario Strait around 1300 HRS. Didn't see a name on the Dory however. We were heading North from Cattle Pass. (I did see Luna C, however at Skyline Marina as we were fueling at the fuel dock, but of course he didn't see me as I was on a vessel he wouldn't expect to see me with).

You're right Dave. This is the first Anacortes Salmon Derby I've missed since its inception in 2007. And in fact I was in Anacortes yesterday. Plus the weather was calm with no wind and barely any rain so I guess I missed a good day to be fishing. Maybe next year!

Another glorious day cruising on Lake Washington. We put in Bellevue (this year we bought a one year launch pass), went north and thru the Montlake cut to Portage Bay, then into Lake Union and thru the Ship Canal to the Fisherman's Terminal, where we had lunch. Both mountains were out (Rainer and Baker). Just a few boats, kayakers and scullers (sp?). Three very impressive patrol boats, sheriff, Seattle police, and Coast Guard were cruising around at 7 kts. By the way, the entrance to Fisherman's Terminal is just west of the Ballard Bridge. (In case you miss the sign, the steel girders on the Ballard Bridge are painted green.)

Well, we kinda saw Wild Blue today! :D Heading for home (after being gone for 2 1/2 months) we drove by the storage place. I could kinda see her bow. We have to get the 5th wheel cleaned up and put away before we can get Wild Blue back in the water. Can't wait!

Cleaned up the 12 footer a bit and put on some fresh C-Dory decals from the factory. Took and few more photos and added them to our album. Aurelia gets picked up by the new owner this weekend and our new Lund is at the dealer (Kitsap Marina) being rigged now.

Ok, maybe I got a little carried away. It was quite a chore stringing the 1/0 cables for the inverter, but I wanted it in the house and that's what it took to get away from the voltage drop. And those brewers make real good coffee...

Picked up my boat today from the body paint shop. While Nomad was back outside in the shop complex boat park for about 4 hrs awaiting my arrival, the owner said that 5 lots of people had come into the shop saying, "wow what sort of boat is that, is it for sale"? The body shop owner said, he has not known anything like that amount of interest in such a short time before! Such is the pulling power of the C-Dory. Maybe I should have bought one when I was single. ;o)

If any of you are thinking about getting a Bombard AX1 inflatable (real easy to handle, seats two adults, and up to 4hp motor) buy the inflatable thwart at the same time. Most people do not bother, they sit on a cooler box while they row. I bought my model (red one) in 2004 without the seat, thought I would save a buck. Now I have ordered one. It cost $120 and only comes in grey. Bombard do not make red anymore. So if any of you see a red and grey inflatable out there...............that is me.

Martin.

That's for sure, but then you would have needed to purchase a much much larger C-Dory in order to chauffeur all the "chicks".

(Maybe there is a market for the 29' C-Dory that is still sitting on the Dealer's lot in Mt. Vernon...... )

Last night I took Cocoon about 30 miles out into the Gulf to spend the night. The only two lights in view were the moon and my anchor light, and the moon was really bright. Nice breeze. Had to put a jacket on after dark. Nothing to talk about for seas out or back.

Tyboo, I have a single cup Keugrig too. What a great way to watch the sunrise with a really good cup, or several, of coffee. I have an 1800 watt inverter and the Keurig really pulls the amps.

Opening day for salmon so I went to see if the salmon wanted to play.

Got these beauties in 125' & 155' feet water with downrigger at 80' & 100' just off the rincon between Carpinteria and Ventura.

nice fish Roger. The kid & I spent about five hours on the river this morning, nada, didn't see any action from the hundred other boats either, we going to try again this evening.

We have a slip at Squalicum Harbor for the season, so we took C-weetness over from Hilton Harbor and just practiced docking. Lots of fun when things went right (not 100% of the time unfortunately). We won't move the boat permanently for another month or so as I have some repair projects that I want to finish first.
