SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Towed Levity to Raystown Lake, learned some about launching and retrival, then had a great day on the water. Honda 90 started easily, ran smooth. Learned alot about the GPS, sonar unit. It was so warm considered swimming till we read the water temp(40F). Swim another day!

Last weekend a lot better than this one C-Dory wise. Thought about Captain's Choice :smile a lot but stayed here and opened the pool  , moved some fill dirt :( and had the grass cut (I don't do that myself anymore)

Very nice weekend here in Northern Virginia weatherwise. Nice next week predicted and will, for sure get down to the boat and out next weekend   ! Hope everyone else got out!

Charlie, I run twin 40 hp Hondas, propped with 11.1x14 Solas. WOT is 5600-5700 rpm, 28 knots if the water is flat and I am not carrying a heavy load. I carry a 11.1x12 prop in case I loose a motor, as I found that one 11.1x14 would not get me on step. Haven't had to use it yet, may find it too won't do the one motor push very well. I also carry a spare 11.1x14, in case I ding a prop.

I waxed 'er from head to toe and I must say that the 3m product works the best so far on old C-Lou.

Installed a Se-Sport hydrofoil.

Removed the poly slicks off the bunk trailer and installed carpet.

Installed a Fulton 2 speed T3700 trailer winch.

Wednesday, if I have time before the trip, I'll install a Garmin 250c fishfinder.

And the best is.... installed an old fashion Dr. Pepper bottle opener in the cabin.

Me thinks, the ratio of beer to Dr. Pepper being opened will be quite large... :beer :beer :beer

We gave Laurna Jo some fresh water time Saturday... wowed the folks on American Lake. Caught a bunch of Rainbow trout. Kept 5 of them, then Laurie cooked 'em up real nicely and we had a wonderful trout dinner at home. A great time was had by us and the boat, but the fish paid the price.(burp).

Took the Denebola :star out on Nehalem Bay this weekend. 75 degrees and no wind.

Had a problem when we put in though. Went to crank her over and, click, click  This is the first time we have had her out since Catchlimit so she been sitting for a couple of weeks, although this has not been a problem before. I pulled the Dodge down the ramp and was able to get the jumper cables on and gave her a charge to get her going. Went out and got some fresh crab and a sunburn, what a life 8). Moored her at the marina and the next day she started right up.

I didn't have time to look her over when we put her away so I just took the leads off the battery posts. Any ideas where to start looking? As you know, I am electrically challenged, so please talk slowly.

It was a gorgeous day yesterday, summer like weather and perfect for the new Sea Shift's sea trial. (Ahhh 'tis good to be back at sea!). :smiled

Dave-Somehow I knew you were on the water yesterday. Thought of you as we put in at Everett, where we began last year's First Annual Snohomish River and Railroad bridge Tour. What a beautiful day it was yesterday! There was not a cloud in the sky, the water like glass, Olympics clear to the west and the Cascades to the east. Mt. Baker to the north and Mt. Ranier to the south. Our newly repaired prop, now with 16 pitch instead of 15, gave us a couple more miles per hour. We went fishing ("mooching") off the south end of Whidbey. Joe got an ugly cabezon and I got a beautiful 36 inch lingcod, both of which we had to release. A beautiful, beautiful day.

Undid the wires up to the windlass and the handy Tyboo Mike line counter and stuck the last piece of hull linner in the V-berth. The patterns Tim loaned me worked out pretty good, can't say the same for the quality of the craftsmanship however. Actually, it turned out good, that hull linner is pretty easy to work with. Anybody thinking about this project would do well to use the actual hull linner material rather than carpet. The stuff is given an extra treatment to resist mildew and not retain water and is great to work with.
I glued some pieces of 1/2 PVC pipe up in the corners and ran the wires through it for the windlass, looks much better than before.......all in all.I think I'd rather been in Lopez however :)

YEA!!
I got the bottom side of Navicula wet today! I'm not quite done with all the things on her "to-do" list (will I ever really be done? ), but I said "what the hay" and towed her over to Finger Lake for a spring shake down. The weather couldn't have been any better out there today, but that meant lots of boat traffic too. Several ThunderJets, a slick little racer, lots of open bow aluminum lake boats, even some brave souls in canoes...

Now I remember why I bought her in the first place. :D She is such a dream to drive. The Johnson 70 leaves absolutely nothing to be desired in the way of power. She down-right leaps out of the water when you lean into the throttle. With the 17 pitch prop, she'll scoot across the lake at about 34mph at 5500 rpm (WOT), and at 4500 rpm she runs about 25. Of course, it's not a problem to reel her in and lope along at 15-18 either. What a fantastic boat.

So I had her out on the water for about 4-5 hours and burned through a few gallons af gas. My brother-in-law was with me all day, my brother stopped by for about an hour, and my wife and sister-in-law even came aboard for an hour. Everybody had a good time out in the sun, and everybody was impressed with the cute little boat. I even ran into a fellow who said he was looking at buying her when she disappeared from where she was sitting for sale. But I especially liked the comment from one guy who was fishing off the dock. He said, "That's the biggest little boat I've ever seen. When you stepped off onto the dock you looked like a giant!" I gotta admit, that little 16 footer looks a lot bigger than 16 feet long.

What a great day!! And now it's :beer :beer time...

Gave the baby her first bath. In doing so, discovered something I liked better about Da Nag 19. (Hint: 3 less feet, no rear bulkhead.)

Discovered how much capacity a fully charged Optima Blue Top has. Leave your chartplotter, RADAR, autopilot, VHF, and automatic bilge pump on for 24 hours and you'll find out too. Tip #1: This is a good reason to get that second battery, just in case you're on the fence with that decision.

Got in line with the local canvas guy for a two-piece cover. Tip #2: These guys are busy this time of year.

Talked with three neighbors while doing item #1. Interesting tidbit: unlike R.V.'s, neighbors seem to like C-Dory's parked on the street.

Been off line for a week. Had a nasty "sasser worm" gobbling up the inside of my computer.

Went out on Nehalem Bay Monday before last. Sunny, 75 degrees, no wind and we were the only boat on the bay . The Food Channel was there shooting a piece on harvesting bay critters and cooking them. We dropped our crabs pots and circled in the area where they were filming. Hopefully the Denebola will be seen on a food channel near you.

Went over the Sunset Ride with a fine tooth comb, will be going for our first outing of the year Sunday-Tuesday in Kachemak Bay. Mounted a rod holder assembly and started loading all kinds of extra stuff I hope I don't need (electrical trouble repair, etc.).

Started the motors in drums of water, ran them for 10 min each. Started the Wallas, heat was there like it should have been, no cabin lights though. At least until I found the wire I had inadvertently disconnected when I rerouted the battery switch lines a few weeks ago.

Christmas this year seemed to be time to receive stuff for the boat, so I had some nice booty to load up for the upcoming trip and season. Looking forward to seeing what's under there on the underwater camera I gave my wife for Christmas.

Bill,
The first time I washed SSSS, I looked at her first and said....this is gonna be whole lot different and a lot more work to wash than the 16' was! :cry However, I timed myself and had 'er washed with soap and water top to bottom in 30 minutes........so I was real happy with that!
(Of course had I been Brock.....it would a been 3 days to wash it 'cause we all know how immaculate he keeps his sweet 16' :thup ).
(That wash time doesn't count the "flushing the engines time").

Also a good reason to carry a small 12v jump start like the Coleman Powermate (Schuck's Auto Supply has been selling them for $29.95). It also saved our bacon when we had the power problem out at Sucia Island. We have two batteries and still want the little jump start on board just for insurance...

Loaded up and ready to go. Heading for the Delta in the morning. Putting in at Rio Vista then heading up to Old Sac with Mike (Sealife) and Ron (Islander). Returning to Rio Vista on Wednesday to meet up with the rest of the C-Dogs for the Delta/Bay cruise.
