Some people do dumb things! Maybe they are looking to see if a flat tire is the problem. I sure am glad the boat is not a C-Dory.

A buddy of mine, Dr. John Bibb took that picture on the ramp at Marina del Rey. The problem began when the wife was backing the boat in but they forgot to remove the tie-downs. The boat began floating and lifted the trailer and rear tires of the truck. Being rear wheel drive, the truck went right in and began filling with water. The tow truck couldn't reach the front of the truck, so they towed it out by the rear of the trailer.

Phil,

Thanks for the info, but I'm still left wondering how did the truck turn around so it is facing down the ramp as if it was driven right into the water and not backed into the water?

I guess it doesn't really matter...I'd be on the dock crying.

This is why in teaching USPS safe boating classes for the past 50 years I always recommend:

When launching your boat always have all people get out of the vehicle, remove your seat belt and open the driver and passenger windows.

When the rear wheels lifted off the ramp both the boat and truck went in. By the time the tow truck arrived the truck and boat were parallel to the dock. They could only reach the back of the trailer so they pulled everything out backwards. I guess it took a few moves to get them inline.
