Somebody Needs to Be Buying NEW C-Dorys

If at all possible I always try to buy new, it just seems to work better for me . We bought our C- Dory new in July 2010 here a year later still loving the boat but must say I had something unusual happen the other day. I recieved a phone call that there was a note on my boat that read "I Want To Buy Your Boat". My first response was to call & price a new Tom Cat & got really excited. My excitement was short lived as the deal with selling mine seemed to fizzle out. I can't say that I was really disappointed since my boat wasn't for sale. I have no problem cruising several more years in our current CD but did get the heart pumping just thinking of being able to start from scratch again! That new car smell has always been a weakness or more like an addiction of mine. Hi my name is Gary & I am an addict (C-dory addict that is)

Jim, when I was there off and on over the summer, it seemed like they were building something like six or so boats a month (just a guess) - much like the C-Dory factory in Kent when we bought our CD22. Only they were not all C-Dorys, they were building C-Dorys and the larger boats, Skagit Orkas and/or Ospreys. But they were honest-to-God building boats, there was no question about that.

We all assume that they aren't building 25 boats a week, but how many do you assume they're building when you hear... nothing?

Just saying.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Marc, you are the man...I love you, bud. If it were not for the damn stent, Cory would be bringing some more charcuterie your way, and just say the word, and there is a case of our finest coming your way, Avalanche Winter Ale, the next time Cory passes through Snoqualmie! He has my number!

What was Jeff Lindhout trying to tell us in that crytpic post? I hope you can help the boys at Triton see the light, so far, there is very little indication of that, and it makes me sad. If anybody can do it though, it is you! Scott, I KNOW you are reading this! Jump in here, please!

They are not sitting on their hands . I just helped fill the build schedule .
We will have some boats in shows .With a few new ideas. We are not afraid to travel a bit, either .

Bottom line is I am ordering boats for stock . And a few other dealers are too .It takes some serious cajones to do that right now.
Jeff L. was trying to address all the armchair quarterbacks that have good intentions , but don't understand the costs of advertising, building boats for stock,re doing a website, printing literature , [just the cost of a mold for a new part is staggering]not to mention a barrel of resin ,etc. He was kind of tongue in cheek about it .Sometimes its frustrating to see the widespread negativity regarding new product and the quest for a deal on everything .
This industry is in flux and changing to fit a new generation and a new economy .C Dory fits a place that will always be popular with an ever growing group of people . The retiring boomer. We are regularly brainstorming about marketing and new options. They are willing , but they can't build them for an absentee audience. Ill be doing all the shows I can afford to do this year , thats a pretty expensive endeavor as well .
It would be nice to see a new C Brat with questions directed to a new boat or a dealer once in a while instead of Craig's List .
I am a believer in the product and am actively thinking of affordable ways to advance Wefing's and C Dory .
Marc

And Pat ,thank you, Ill be asking Cory to drop by and getting a beer exchange item ready to come your way . Got a nice prociutto to slice .

It is good to hear that the CD factory is building boats on a slow steady basis. I wish them all the success.
The CD dealers buying new stock is a real ballsy thing to do these days and hopefully it will be profitable for them. I wish them all well. It also gets the new CD's out for potential new buyers can get a look at them in action.
