The TyBoo is getting a pretty special treat tonight. As some of you may recall the name TyBoo is in honor of my best friend, Tyler Boothe, who died in a house fire a few weeks before I got my first C-Dory. It hit me very hard, and the way I finally accepted it was by putting the name on my boat.

Well - tonight Tyler's son and his two grandchildren he never got to meet are staying on the TyBoo at the dock and heading out with me in the morning to pull some crab pots. I will try to get some pictures tomorrow.

Only thing that would be better is to have Tyler on board also. I'm sure his son and grand sons will have a great time.

And, of course I forgot my phone this morning so the only pictures I got are a couple from last night. Brian said he would be putting some on Facebook and that I could grab a few for here.

I talked to Sturgeon Paul (local fisheries pro and my older daughter's boyfriend) and he said there is a better chance of the pots being free next weekend so we'll leave 'em sit for now. He said if I was real worried he could have one of the commercial guys swing over and pull them on their way by but they aren't worth that because he has a pile of them I can use. If they won't come loose next weekend I cut the floats off and tie weights to the lines.
 
that's way cool Mike. Are those young'uns going to be doing some sturgeon fishing with come spring?

That's the trouble with posting from the phone and not paying attention. The message that was supposed to be before the one quoted didn't seem to make it.

The day with the kids was great, but the crabbing was less than great. The first of five pots came up empty, and the other four are sanded in hard. That's the first time I have ever had one I couldn't pull, and I have left them overnight in the exact same area many times.

I was out there again this evening at high tide trying to free them but they are still stuck. We will try one more time next Saturday and then cut the lines if no luck. I think I will run a line through my bow roller and tie it to the foredeck cleat. Then I'll tie to the pot lines and back away. A lot safer than pulling down on the stern.

Today was a beautiful evening on the river. We even pretended to sturgeon fish a little.
