Springtime in the NW

This morning while on a band tour with Jessica and her classmates, one of the gals put on her bikini and went down to the beach in front of our hotel in Seaside, Oregon to wade in the surf. (Eat your heart out Jim and Joan....see even a little snow doesn't stop some of these hearty gals from Arlington when it comes to beach time). Yes, we did see quite a bit of snow on our trip and of course came home to snow on the ground at our home in Arlington.
(Mike, we spent Thursday night in your home town of Warrrenton at the Shilo Inn, but I knew beforehand that we wouldn't have any time for me to get together with you as we arrived at the Inn at 2300 HRS and had to awaken early to board the buses for a performance at the high school in Ilwaco).

Mike,
I have no doubt that you made it home . The question is...did your wallet make it home with two teenyboppers busily wearing it out!!

OK. March 29...nice day with Joe and Ruth. Lunch at the Bayside Restaurant, pleasant conversation back at their house. Here is a pic at their house in Bellingham, March 29, 2008...notice anything (camera phone pic, sorry)?

Saturday afternoon north of Stanwood on I-5.

And today, we were having our sundowners on the deck at Birch Bay...I was in a short sleeve shirt, it was cool but bright and sunny! Go figure!

And today, we're in our Class B, heading to Phoenix... at a campground for the night with the air conditioner running, 30 amp plug-in, cable TV, and WiFi. And, I'd rather be on the boat.

BTW, some of us are quite sensitive about the "smutty" images being posted on here and the use of 4 letter words.*

Your pal,
Jim

* Words like "snow"... and images of... snow. Great, now you have me using the S-word.

Well, the "S" word was yesterday...after sundowners on the deck, we had dinner on the deck today! After coming back from Ruth and Joe's yesterday afernoon, and getting our corned beef dinner back on the boil, since there was a nice low tide we went clamming! Now, Joe and Ruth and Bill and El know our great clam feeds here at the Crabless Palace. Jim and Joan, to Jim's immense relief, we fed beef! But we do a fabulous clam dinner here, fried clams the way my Aunt Elizabeth taught me, and steamers the way, well, the way we have always done them! And tonight the sky was blue, sun was shining, the Strait of Georgia was shimmering, Patos and Saturna were calling me, and the clams were just awesome! All is well in the Great Pacific Northwest tonight! BTW, we would happy to entertain any Brats who happen to be in the area with a clam feast, we'll dig 'em, fry 'em and eat 'em!

Tired of the Frozen Springtime in the PNW?

This will warm you up!

THE CHASE

Enjoy!

(Does anyone here know who CF7981TB is?)

Joe. :teeth :thup :rainbow

"The Chase" done by none other than our own Ron Dreher and wife, Natalie, on "Islander", C-Dory 22. Great clip and music!

I thought that chase video looked familiar. He (or someone) shared a link to it with us a while back. Neat to see again.

Today Jamie and I had to go up to Portland and we went the same way to see the snow. It got a little colder last night and there was one stretch of road that was pretty bad. The traffic was one-way around a few stuck rigs and while we were sitting in the line we saw one unfortunate guy have a doozy of a wreck. He was slip-sliding downhill and around a corner in his full size pickup and doing a pretty good job of avoiding the stopped cars on the other side of the road. There was no guardrail on the inside of that particular corner and his last slip turned him completely around, off the side of the road, and over the edge. The last thing we saw was him turning upside down and dropping out of sight into a pretty good gully. The guys in three of the cars ahead of us ran over to check on him and by the time I got close enough to help they were standing and watching him climb out of the gully unhurt. As soon as he dropped off the road I looked at Jamie and she had big old tears in her eyes thinking for sure he was a goner.
