Stainless keyhole brackets on port side of cockpit??

Just purchased our CD and trailed it home to FLA in time for the cool weather. We have many questions and I'm sure more will arise.
The first is a quizzical one and deals with a pair of stainless steel mounting brackets on the port side of cockpit. They are above the molded in step and shaped like a keyhole. Maybe a table or ladder or ????

This sounds like the location of the ladder bracket on our boat.

It does sound like mounting brackets for a Garlick cockpit ladder. There are a lot of folks who use them. Some have mounting brackets on both sides to facilitate docking either port or starbd.

After 5 years of climbing up and down the gunnels using the small step on our 2005 22'cruiser, we finally got smart and added one of those garelick boarding ladders. What a great addition, it made me wonder why I waited so long to add one of these. What a difference!
